Hi everyone!

I'm planning for my very first trip to India for two to three weeks and I feel a bit overwhelmed now mainly because there are so many options (FYI, I'm a female in mid 20s, and will be traveling solo).

Right now, I managed to narrow it down to two choices (thank God), and your suggestions (anything!) would be greatly appreciated.

Option1: Spend the entire 2-3 weeks volunteering. - If any of you could share your experience here...

Option2: Spend a half of the tour hiking up the Himalaya and the other half sightseeing - Does anyone have a *great* experience of exploring the Himalayas with a tour agency?

Thanks so much for your input! Reply to this

What parts of the himalyas are you talking about and how long do you wanna go. If you are in Delhi or somewhere around i can help you with all the local stuff like travel arrangements and info. Brief me about your plans and i could suggest an itenirary. Please tell me the exact dates so that i can tell you how much help can i be. Reply to this

Hello Cat 😊

I would get a copy of the Lonely Planet guide for India. Not only will it give you itinery and activity suggestions etc but it is invaluable for the safety information it gives. I recommend that everybody going to India for the first time read all the advice in the Lonely Planet book before arriving in India. It is available in most bookshops around the world for around 35 Euros and can also be bought on the internet.

Hello Cat,

What Mel mentioned above is exactly what you should do first. Get Lonely Planet. My good friends from Marseille, France stayed with me in Delhi for some time and they took an adventourous trip to The Himalayas trekking and camping. If you contact Ladakh Tourism of Govt. of Jammu nd kashmir, you will get more information. All the best.
