Hi! be great if someone could give some advice for v inexperienced travellers... :)
In Feb '09, will be flying to Hong Kong and making own way down to Singapore, we've found a tour from Hanoi - Bangkok then from Bangkok - Singapore, but i'm struggling with how we'd get from hong kong - hanoi to start the 1st tour. need to know the cheapest, simplest and quickest way. Thank you very much! xx

From hong kong to Hanoi by flight is simplest and quickets way, however it is not the cheapest....

You need by the way:
1; Take a train(or bus) from Hong'kong to Guang'zhou(maybe 2 hour);
2; And then buy a train ticket from Guang'zhou to Nan'ning(maybe 8 hour);
3; Arrived Nan'ning, you should go to "Car Station"(Side by "Hotel of civil aviation of Nan‘ning"), and then take a bus form here to Dong'xing Street(Hanoi),maybe half hours.

but I think it's the best way is flight from Hk to Hanoi.
