Hi IzabelaA, can't tell you much about the current situation in Patna although when I went there in May there were tourists around and it felt as safe as anywhere else in India, but I can tell you that you won't be missing much if you skip it completely. I really didn't like it, by far the worst place I visited on my trip. If you do decide to go, try to get a room in advance as I arrived on a weekday and only found one hotel with any rooms out of over a dozen and you don't want to be stranded in Patna.

Hope this didn't come across as too much of a rant and I can tell that what is worth visiting in the Bihar region is Bodh Gaya when the Buddha became enlightened. By contrast to Patna it was one my favourite places on my trip, so I hope the floods don't stop people going there. Reply to this

Hi Jamie.
Thank you for your anserw. It doesn't sound good, but I want to go to Nepal through Patna and later Raxaul( border crossing) so I won't spend lot of time there. Just take the bus an go, so maybe it won't be so bad. I just wanted to know how is it there now and how about roads?
Any way thanks a lot Reply to this
