Hey all,

I'll be fly into Hangzhou then head to Wuxi by car then to Guangzhou then back to Singapore.

Travelling alone and want to make the most out of the trip with the least expenses.

I need advice where should i stay if I would like to experience Hangzhou. Looking for budget hotel with internet access. Convenient to walk about like a tourist. Planning to stay for 2 to 3 days before heading to Wuxi. Or should i join a day tour to see more?

Then in Wuxi, my friend is allowing me to stay in their place for free, but what should i not missed out when I am in Wuxi. Planning to stay for 4 days.

Then from Wuxi to Guangzhou, what is the best cheapest way to travel. Train or flight?
Can someone advice the fare for train or flight?

Then in Guangzhou, I am looking for budget hotel (internet access) that is near to Ritz carton hotel, anyone can suggest? Again in Guangzhou, what is the must see and must do?

sure love to hear back from all....

Thanks and regards

Hi etee99,
THe hotel located the square of West Lake is RMB 250 for standard room or business single room with internet access. you can join a day tour to Thousand-island Lake. the Thousand-island Lake is a must to see.

There is only one trian from Wuxi to Guangzhou but it pass by Wuxi starting from Nanjing lasting about 25 hours 56 minutes. buying the train ticket is difficult. So suggest you take by flight from Wuxi to Guangzhou. there are 5 flights daily.

THe hotel is about RMB 230 with internet access. if you have enough time, you can choose the following scenic-spots.
World Cultural Heritage in Guangdong Province: Kaiping Diaolou and Villages (2007) in Kaipinp City, Jiangmen City of Guangdong Province
World Geological Park in Guangdong Province: Mount Danxia in Shaoguan City
National AAAAA Level Tourist Attractions in Guangdong Province:
Changlong Scenic Area & Holiday Resort in Guangzhou City
Overseas Chinese Town in Shenzhen City
Dapeng Peninsula Beach in Shenzhen City of Guangdong Province: A virgin land by the busting metropolis
Hailing Island in Yangjiang City of Guangdong Province: Silver beach in the South China Sea

If you have any other questions or need any help, please mail to me.

hey dear Benny,
Thanks for speedy reply.

What is the hotel name for Hangzhou RMB250. As my flight into Hangzhou is very late, around 11pm. So i think I have to catch a taxis to the hotel. And from the airport if I catch a taxis, how much would it cost me to get to the hotel you recommended.

For a day tour for Thousand-island Lake, how much would it be?

Any idea how much would be for one way airticket from Wuxi to Guangzhou?
There is a airport in Wuxi itself or I need to travel back to Shanghai?

As mentioned the hotel about RMB230, can I have the hotel name?

hope to hear back from you..

Hi there,

I just went from Hangzhou on the 20th Sept 2008. I stay at Hangzhou International Youth Hostel in Hangzhou, China. Add: No.101-3 Nanshan Road. You can book for the hostel at www.hostelworld.com I got a twin bedroom at only RMB180. The hostel is just next to the West Lake. Very strategic location. WHen u touched down at Hangzhou airport, you can take the shuttle bus down to town at about RMB25. Then grab a taxi at about RMB10 to get you to the hostel which is about 5 to 10 mins away. Staffs at Hangzhou International Youth Hostel are friendly and they speak English. They can guide you to the hostel as well. There are 3 pcs available for free internet.

At Hangzhou, you must go to the West Lake. There are multiple places which are worth to visit nearby West Lake such as the Lin Feng Pagoda, Yue Fei Temple. You should also go to the Linyin Temple. West lake is huge. You can spend 1 whole day walking around. You can take the city bus at the main road which only costs you RMB1 per ride.

I didn't try HomeInn in Hangzhou but I tried the one at Urumqi. It costs RMB179 for a twin bedroom. A good place to stay as well. But the internet access is not free there.

We only did shopping at Guangzhou. If you like shopping, you can go to the Beijing Road and also Jia Lu Jie Shang Lu. Both of them are famous with shopping and foods. We stay at GardenInn at Guangzhou which is located at Dai Sha Tau. QUite near to Beijing Road. HomeInn is at that area too. Their rate is about RMB179 for a single bedroom. Alternatively, you can walk around Beijing road to get a cheaper hotel. In GZ, you can also go crusing at the Pearl River or go over to Zhu Hai.

As for train tickets, you can only get it at the train station itself. If it is not on a peak period, you can try your luck to get it when you are there. I was travelling from Lanzhou to Xian during the China National Holidays. I couldn't get any hard sleeper bed, so I was forced to get a soft sleeper bed which costs me RMB450 for a 8 hours train ride. By the way, it is not convenient for us to book domestic air ticket in China. Anyway, you can try out at www.sunnychina.com or www.elong.net. That time we asked a friend in China to book for us. Or you can also ask your friend in Wuxi to book for you.

Arriving at Hangzhou and flying back from Guangzhou .... same air route as mine .. .is it Airasia? Hehe.

I have posted my photos at Hangzhou at http://javentravel.multiply.com/photos/album/1/Hang_Zhou_China 😊
