Hi,

I would love to travel to Malaysia for 1 month. Could you please recommend me which period is the best? And which places I should see? I will be happy for any advise :-)

Hi zuza,

For me, I would say between the months of May-September. It's always best that you know what you want to experience/see, as all the states that make up Malaysia have their own beauty and uniqueness. As for where I'm located - Sabah - there's of course the must-do Mt. Kinabalu, rafting, proboscis monkeys sighting and if you have extra to spend, go for Sipadan/Mabul/Kapalai even if you're not a diver. 😊

Plan ahead and have a good trip.

Kuala lumpur is the capital..so you might want to visit there.. But seriously, nothing much there.
Penang is recommended! There's beach and shopping..
A lot of islands too like Tioman & Redang....
If you are feeling lucky, you can go to Genting Highlands as they have casinos there.
45 mins away is Bukit Tinggi... Nice place to go also..
They have these many villages for different cultures.
I am also personally interested to go Sabah & Sarawak..
Saw a brochure on them...Beautiful place.
To find out more about these, just google them.. I'm sure you'll have more details on them. 😊

Hey Zuza ,,

Well for me i think malaysia it's too big and one month is not enough to cover the West and the East. you should specify where you want to go first?! Wht you want to see ?!

Let's start with the West:

1. Kuala Lampour for few days to hang around and check out the Twin Tower (the tallest buliding in the world).
2. Genting High Lands,, nice weather and they call it the city of entertainment. Make sure you will go up via the Cable car to have a wonderful views. (Can be a day trip from KL)
3. Cameron Highlands,, It's beautiful lovely place. very quite and nice for relaxing and refreshing.
4. Taman Negara,, Malaysia Main national park.
5. Tioman Island / Redang Island / Perhantian All of them in the East cost. I think one of them will be enough to visit, Dont ask me which one coz i loved it all .. lool.
6. You have Langkawi Island on the north.

About Genting and Cameron both of them are highlands and the weather is lovely up there ,, You can go to one of them only if you dont have much time. but as i mentioned Genting can be done in 1 day trip from KL, coz it's only 1 hour from KL.

About the Islands,, I dont think so u want to visit all the Islands !! Any Island you will go to in the East cost will be beautiful and you will have a great time there. The Small Perhantian and Tioman Island is more famous for the backpackers. Redang is very very quite and nice for relaxing.

About East Malaysia please check my answer's to one of the travelers in the same website

Let me know if you need any help and i would advice to see both East and West.

hi zuza,

YOU SHOULD buy the travel guide "LONLEY PLANET" for Malaysia. Dont travel without it!!! It's highly recommended and as i have seen most of the tourist they use this book. It will tell you about everything you need. Malaysia is safe in general but you should be little careful, dont walk in dark places alone at night, I think this is the main advice for all the countries 😊 Also i think you should avoid free dropping.

Well even if you will travel alone,, I think u will be alone on the roads only but once u reach the guest houses and hostels you can make friends and see where they are going next and if it's suits you then you can travel with them. This is what almost everyone does.

Happy travelling.

True that!. As the universal travel-saying goes; plan ahead & travel smart. Its always good to make friends with people you meet, as it's all part & parcel of the travelling experience. But if you crave for the bare essentials, then travel among/with us locals. You're bound to enjoy the trip!

Hi Zuza;

Malaysia is quite safe. KL is a great city, probably my favorite city in the whole world. A great place to stay is the Corona Inn, downtown KL. It's walking distance to pretty much everything. Actually, there are so many great places to stay at, you won't have any problem finding one. A great place to visit is Cameron Heights. If you can manage to stay there for a couple of days I don't think you'd regret it.

Even though Malaysia is a muslim country, it is very multi-cultural. They have a lot of Buddhists and Hindus, too. You can wear western clothes there, no problem, they do too. There's nothing you can't buy in KL. It is a very modern city.

Hi,

You can also try visiting The Perhentian islands off the east coast of Malaysia, the weather is beautiful there now.
Try the smaller island, Perhentian Kecil. Beautiful, relaxing, good restaurants, good people, great snorkelling & diving. Reply to this
