Hey everyone! So ive been searching like crazy for the perfect spot to my long anticipated trip to thailand... unfortunately all the hotels im finding are either crap, crap at a tourist packed beach, or pretty expensive. HELLO theres a reason i paid $1500 for a plane ticket! Can anyone recommend some good hotel/resorts a decent prices and good beaches that arent overrun with tourists like me? thanks!!
Reply to this Phi Phi island is beutiful.. A few tourists but alot more mellow on Phi Phi... No salesman or prostitutes hasseling you all the time.. very different vibe and a small island. They got some cheap bungalows there or if you want the 3 -5 star looking at spending maybe 35 - 55 Austrlian dollars a night... cant remember the one I stayed in though sorry.
Reply to this Hello Jorgan 😊
I particularly liked the following one on Koh Pha Ngan. It is mostly backpackers who stay there so I dont know if that would be your scene. But the bungalows are nice and OK priced. There is a cafe that overlooks the beach which is not packed with tourists because it is only accessable by dirt track. At least that is how it was when I was there December 2006.

Reply to this Phi Phi was totally overrun with tourists just like you when I arrived in November of last year! But I did manage to find a nice place for about 500baht/night ($15CAD at the time) but it was up on the hill and not right by the beach. Phi Phi is absolutely beautiful - the problem is that it's small and there's always boatloads of more tourists arriving so the population gets pretty dense.
On Koh Lanta, just east of Koh Phi Phi, I found a nice beach front resort called Sanctuary and paid about 500 baht/night to stay there. The beach was almost empty most days. I didn't book the place - just showed up and it happened to be available.
Be cautious about locals offering you places to stay. Best off to ask fellow travelers for places to stay and the amount you should be paying (or pick up a Travel guide).

Reply to this There is a wonderful beach that is hardly used at Songkhla, just outside of Hatyai. Accommodation in Songkhla is good. It also means that if you feel like abreak Hatyai and Penang are very nearby.

Reply to this don't book anything before you arrive. koh phi phi is the most beautiful place on earth. if you want cheap (just a bed, window and ceiling fan), you can get that at banthai guesthouse which is owned and run by miss lee- she is the diva of koh phi phi, and i think i paid 3 dollars a night. it was really safe, and just what a needed- a bed to rest on at night. there are also really nice resort hotels on the island, just wander around until you find what you like. feel free to bargain!
