I am traveling to Burma from 18-30 December. Any idea whether it's safe to travel at that time? Reply to this

Hello Karen 😊

That is difficult to predict after all that has happened there in the last year. I would wait until closer to the time you want to go to make your decision. Maybe it will be a bit more clear by then whether Burma is recovering or remaining unstable.

Hi there. I have been to Burma on three seperate ocasions and would say that for the tourist it is the safest country that i have ever visited. at the moment though there are armed police and soldiers on the streets of Rangoon following the arrest and detention of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. This looks likely to continue untill the trial is over. The present situation could have implications for US and UK visa applications. I have heard via the lonely planet forum that some people applying for a visa in Bangkok have been refused. I also go again in December for 1 month. I can say hand on heart that Burma is the best country that i have ever been to by a wide margin. Happy travels Reply to this
