hello party people,

isn't this mess up? girl beaten up in KL malaysia by bouncers. http://girlofmay.blogspot.com

Have anyone experience this before while travelling in south east asia? I did some travelling there. It was generally safe. But I did hear some horror stories before.

Any advice for me? As my fiance and I are looking to travel to that region again next year.

There are always stories like this going on everywhere in the world - that's my philosophy.

I would imagine that this is an isolated incident in KL, a fairly cosmopolitan city with high business travel and tourism levels. Not indicative of the general population. When I visited there, the people were incredibly friendly.

There were obvious con-men, but then they call at your home too? Why not pick an easy target of a naiive looking white kid on the street? There were stories of bag snatches - but these are common at home - do we stop carrying them there?

I think the main trouble when travelling is that you feel invincible. Away from turf where you have been overwhelmed with information of where to go and where not to go. Where you should feel safe and where you should be careful. Confident that you can achieve whatever you want - usually because you have to be.

Just because we make a popular destination into an idyll does not mean that it exists as one. Everywhere is the same. There are good people, bad people, and people who answer small questions on a forum in far too much depth and complexity...

Hehe...

I agree though - but it should be taken to the police and handled properly - Malaysia is a very civilised country, reports of this nature don't help it's reputation... Reply to this
