I am an American 49 year old Male. I will be flying into Bangkok and hopefully be staying aprox. 3 months in Thailand this Oct Nov Dec. If I only show up with my passport, What will I have to do to keep my 3 or so month stay there valid? and what is the cost? Reply to this

You'll be stamped in for 30 days when you arrive - after that, you'll have to decide either to leave Thailand a couple of times, crossing the border into Laos, and come back the next day and get another 30 days etc etc; or I think you apply for a tourist visa which will cover your two months once your thirty days are up - you'll need to go to the immigration office and find out. (there's an immigration office in Chiang Mai which I see is where you'll be staying). You can't really extend the visa you'll be given on arrival, as they'll only extend it for about a week.
That or get a visa before you go! I think you can get one which'll be valid for 3 months.

when u aarive you get a FREE 30 day visa. now for the second months you have 2 options, you can either go into laos (need a visa for laos, not sure the price i think it was around 30 USd last time i was there) and re-enter thailand getting your second free 30 day tourist visa and for your third month repeast, but this will be your last re-enter allowed for 90 days i think it is but if your only there for 3 months no problem.

also on your first re-entry into thailand you can get a tourist visa which is valid for 2 months, but then you've just payed for 2 visas anyways and since laos is so close and such an amazing place most people check it out since it costs about the same with the visas Reply to this
