I would like the opinion of seasoned travels and expats in East Asia. I have two slightly different questions and polls.

Imagine you are a retired man (maybe you are). You have a modest western income (pension, investment, whatever). Lets say $20,000-30,000 per year. You are not necessarily old, but do not want to work anymore. You just want to have a good happy life.
In which East Asian country would you prefer to live as an expatriate?
Please answer my poll here.
Please explain your reasons in the poll comments and/or below.

Imagine you are single male traveler (maybe you are). You are adventurous (of course you are). You have a TEFL certificate and a few techie certifications (Web Design/desktop support). You plan to work and have fun.
Based on income vs cost of living and quality of life (weather, girls, scenery, fun, etc..), which East Asian country would you prefer to live as an expatriate?
Please answer my poll here.
Please explain your reasons in the poll comments and/or below.
Feel free to add any advice or useful information below. I hope this information will be useful to men with similar situations and goals to those described above. Thank you very much for your experience and insight.
If you do not have experience traveling in Asian, or you do not appreciate the nature of the questions, please do not respond. Reply to this i answered your polls, there is only one legitimate option in the first, Thailand, in spite of all of the current problems and difficulties here it is head and shoulders above the rest for your criteria.
in the second case, japan wins hands down.
Reply to this I dont want to work any more either. Plannin the same. No pensions thou. ;/
Reply to this IMO, Thailand would be your best option. Cost of living is quite low and you can get almost everything dirt cheap. English is also a huge demand in places like Thailand, Laos & Cambodia and with TEFL cert you'll do fine in these places even better if you'r native speaker.
Reply to this while i don't teach english, many of my friends and associates do and they all jump at the opportunity to teach in korea and japan rather than thailand. teacher pay in thailand is very low compared to korea and japan and while the cost of living is generally higher in those two places your pay will be significantly higher and so will your quality of life.
if i was going to teach english my choice would be japan no question.
