Traveling next week to Vietnam. Any locals who can advise the situation?
Traveling next week to Vietnam. It's my 3rd trip there (last 2 in Hanoi & Sapa) but 1st time to HCMC. Reading papers that there might be political unrest over the 25% inflation and rice contraints. Any locals who can advise the situation?
Reply to this hmm. I've got an email reply saying there's a response to my topic. And logging into the website I could see Mel responded. But no matter how many times I log in and re-log in, I can only see one post (which is my own post) in the thread???
I could see the messages and replies of the other topics. Except this.

Reply to this Here in Blighty food and fuel prices have risen by about 25% since the beginning of the year. No rioting (yet).
Reply to this Hi,
In Saigon for the moment....and the talk of the moment is how messy the economic situation could turn out...but hey, shouldn't stop you from coming here...just make sure you've got the right rate to cahnge your us/euros....and trust me, there are still hips of amazing deals around.
So no panic...come along...just keep checking the news, but this is a safe placE!
Reply to this Mel, #2 wrote unfair advice based on lack of informations. Cholera outbreak affect mostly local Vietnameses who were eating fermented shrimp paste, and tourists have never been served this paste, because it smells very strong. And it was there since last year.
I second #6, PA Leslie.
Have a good time in Vietnam!

Reply to this hey im back fr viet! Completely no hint of any rioting or political unrest. At least not in HCMC or Hoi An. Had a fantastic time at the Hoi An Riverside Resort esp. But prices sure did went up a little bit since the last time i went Hanoi. They have these food menus with stickers updating the new increased prices at many number of eateries.
so its safe to go!
Reply to this hey, mate. Just to ensure you that the inflation rate is no rag to us, tourists. The bad economic situation now is everywhere in the world. So, feel free to come. About the cholera thing: It's gone, like close to 1/2 year ago. It's not a big thing in here as long as you don't try much street food. Enjoy your
