HI! I've check today the www.seat61.com and wrote down the train fares going from one place to another in China and its quite pricey...i would like to know if there is an aircon bus going from Shanghai to Xi'an and then Xi'an to Beijing. If there is a bus transportation, is it comfortable, convenient and safe to move from around? And, how much could be the bus fare? Thanks so much for your attention! Reply to this

Dear friend, If you want to go from Shanghai to Xi'an and then Xi'an to Beijing by bus, it's feasible but not safe. There are some sleeper buses without aircon. And it should take you approximate 500yuan. I suggest you to take train, that's convenient and economical. If you're afraid of pre-book train fare, I can help you. Hope you can have a good trip in China. Reply to this

HI, Thanks for this information. Its really helpful. How much nowadays is the cost of one-way train fare from Shanghai to Xian, Xian to Beijing, Beijing to Hongkong? I've seen www.seat61.com, with the train fares posted. Hope to hear from you again. Reply to this

Honestly, yes it is feasible and safe but not the fastest option :-) Would most likely cost you about the same by train (taking into consideration the lenght of the trip)
For train ticket, you can easily buy them at the Shanghai train station (english speaking counter now). Just keep in mind that the earliest you can buy train ticket in China is 15 days prior to departure,
Try to avoid traveling during chinese hollidays or peak days (Monday/ Friday) :-) Traveling by train is easy and fun in China and then for short distance you can go for the bus option (speaking chinese then does help a lot!)

Hi, thank you for this information. I really appreciate it ;o) About buying train tickets, we will be in Shanghai by October 25, and we intend to buy the train tickets immediately upon arrival, i hope there will still be available soft sleeper room by that time, as we want to leave for Xi'an in the evening of October 29, by this time, there be less tourist in Shanghai and train travelling is more fun and easier, right? How much is the cost for pre-book train fare? Is it ok to just pay when we reach Shanghai? Reply to this

Hi Sherma,
Depends whether you got to absolutely leave on a specific day, indeed, there are trains daily so worst case you can always go up to BJ first, and then Xian,
Never pre booked train tickets, always buy those at the counter a few days prior,
Moreover, end of October is already less touristy so if you have some flexibility it should be fine,
Check out as well the site of air china and china eastern as they often got superdiscounted airplane tickets...(especially for the part BJ/HK that you might not want to do by train...that s a really long journey) Check out as well BJ-Shenzhen, quite often cheaper than flying direct to HK,
Hope this will help, Reply to this
