Hey, I know what you are thinking Brendon and i in a place called Party but no look again it's Paraty pronounced "parachie" this is also a very beautiful old fashioned place, a little harbour town with white wash buildings and art galleries. The town is built bellow sea level and when the tide is high the water fills some of the streets and the locals have to wear wellies to get into there homes, this has been happening here from day one and it doesn't leave any damage. On the second day in Paraty 6 of us from the group decide to hire a boat for the day, our tour leader tells us to relax for a couple of hours while he goes to negotiate a boat for us, when he tells us its under ... read more

Now with pictures! Got our photos recovered from the memory card! It took a little bit longer than we'd originally hoped to finally hit a beach town in beach weather, but the combination of sun, sea and sand finally all came together for us in Paraty. To be honest, we've never actually been particularly into beaches, preferring city breaks for our holidays instead, but Brazil soon changed that! Our first day in Paraty was pretty overcast, but that wasn't a problem at all as our gorgeous little pousada provided us with bikes, so it was the perfect weather for cycling round exploring. Paraty is a hugely popular holiday town, and it's not hard to see why - literally hundreds of beaches and islands in the vicinity and a cute little cobbled centre with plenty of restaurants, ... read more

It's been a while, so apologies. After my last post we spent our final night in Rio. Had a fairly quiet one, pizza and a couple of beers then an early night (after Billy and I watched Failure to Launch in the hotel - a truly shocking film). The next day was an early ish start, we were on the road at 9, heading south from Rio along the Costa Verde, to a town called Paraty, along with seemingly the rest of the Brazilian population since the traffic was pretty much at a standstill. Paraty is a very pretty town, quite European in its appearance, and this weekend there was a festival on (think it may have been something to do with independence, but independence from whom I'm not sure), so the place was packed with ... read more

Yes- the L-word..not relating this to the series..merely a play on words regarding Gordon Ramsay´s show..the F-word..and seeing as my name is Lyndsey..it just seemed super intelligent and witty. I can see the surprise in your eyes..wow..how did she come up with that title all by herself. The answer- just really good genes I guess. Practically perfect in every way. (obviously a reference to the greatest movie ever...good old Mary Poppins..never lets you down when in need of a little quote or two)! So yeah..the F-word reference..a little story will be related to you..but first..I must regress in time and catch you up on what has been happening! So the last time I left you all- The jess and I were still desperately trying to catch up with a foreign exchange. And to be fair..in ... read more

An incredibly beautiful old town with over 70 islands and stunning beaches - why then do so many travellers miss it out?! We had a great time there eating loads of Acai (Brazil´s super fruit), getting Capoeira and break dancing lessons from locals in a club and watching Mike do a shot of chili oil! Our guide to getting by with no Portuguese *Ordering chicken breasts in the supermarket (creator Mike) Steps 1. Start by bending you arms into chicken wings. 2. Then flap a few times. 3. Finish by grabbing your breasts. (Success rate 100%). *How to swap a big not for change (creator Charlie) Steps 1. Hold the note flat in the palm of one hand. 2. Use your other hand to Karate chop along the note. (Success rate 100%) *Asking whether the drink ... read more

... read more
