I finally did my laundry here. It was quite an experience. Everyone had told me that all you do is take your clothes in a bag and they do it for you. Well this is not true for the one that I went to. I walked in there thinking I was going to hand over my laundry and found an actual laundry mat. It caught me so off guard that I forgot how to even say simple words in Spanish. Luckily there was a lady there who showed me how to use the machines. I didn't realize that I had paid for soap and 2 loads of wash at the same time. It was only 2,80 which is under a dollar in US money. So yeah washing my clothes was an experience, and at least now ... read more

Hi Everyone Bet you thought you'd got rid of us eh? Well, no such luck, we've just been having far too good a time in Buenos Aires to bother with Internet cafes. (Interesting internet point: there are a very low number of home internet connections in South America, and most people have to go to public places to use the net, hence there are internet cafes everywhere). So, after a cultural explosion (well two days of culture constitutes an explosion in our book) we chilled out for the rest of our time in Argentina's capital. We spent a few days shopping and bought more than we could comfortably fit into our rucksacks. However, being pretty ingenious by now, we also bought extra bags!! We spent time wandering around the city's parks, which are really beautiful. We ... read more

OK so the 22 hours turned into 25 trying to get from Rio to Foz. The most frustrating is that there are no road signs so the only sign you have that you might be close is that Iguacu starts to appear on lots of names of shops etc as you pass through the villages. We got to Foz in the early afternoon. We had by then figured out that the fastest way to get where we wanted to go to next was via Argentina. Soooo slight problem as obviously the Brazilians have no idea as to the bus schedules in Argentina. The one bus company operating in Foz could offer us a ticket arriving at Concordia at 3 am in the morning and from what I could understand it really was a road side drop ... read more

yes u read right. we got lost. we had time to stop in a few places on the way down south, so we decide we would all choose one place on the map and just stop there. i chose pehuen-co which is on the coast. well according to the book it is. we bought the bus ticket there and the destination said pehuajo which we thought might just be another name for it. but no.... that is actually where we went. it was NOWHERE near the coast and when we went into a shop we asked if there was a beach nearby... the 3 oldies in there just laughed at us.. which we didn't really understand why at the time. however it wasn't all bad cos we were only in that tiny town for a day ... read more

Buenos Aires An incredibly beautiful city, huge like london and also hilarious and unexpected as well. The highlights included meeting the nicest Sikh Family in Buenos Aires (they happenend to be the only one in Buenos Aires but thats another story), the Antiques Fair in San Telmo and the Presidents Pink Palace. The Three Pilgrims The first day we arrived in Buenos Aires we were feeling pious so we decided to visit our respective places of worship (a Gudwara for Manjit and Mandir for Suhirtha and I). I am not sure if this was because we had a huge religious conversion or we were just hoping to be fed some Indian food (i suspect it was the latter). Manjit had looked up the address of the only Sikh Temple in Argentina so off we went to ... read more

Has anyone seen a short fat Argentinian recently? No, well we have. Went to watch Boca Juniors on Sunday and who should be there but El Diego himself, Diego Maradona. But I'll come back to that in a minute. Friday night's trip to a nightclub was interesting, to say the least. All of Buenos Aires nightclubs have been closed for about a month since a big fire in one of the clubs. Since then they've all been having to meet health and safety regulations and in true Latin American style have taken a while. Anyway, Friday night we went to one of the first of the clubs to reopen, a place called Sunset. It was a pretty nice place, with a big outside dance area which was useful when it got too hot. The culture over ... read more

I moved in with my family on Saturday. It's been really cool so far. I live with a woman named Iris who is probably in her 50s. She has 2 older children one 28 and one 30. Iris and I live on Rivadavia which is the road that divides the city in half. Yesterday Iris took me on a tour of the places around us. I swear within like 6 blocks there is everything you{d ever need. There's a huge supermarket and a laundry mat and the sub station all right by me. It's really nice. The buses here are terrible. I still haven{t figured them out. I can get on fine, but getting off is a trick. I guess you have to know what your stop looks like so you can tell the conductor to ... read more

rosario- place of birth of che guevara, lovely little town... had our first offical day off when we just lounged around and watched tv. mainly some crappy celebrity channel i am afraid to say... next day saw some monuments and some lovely buildings... next day tried to go to some museums, which were obviously shut, which we should be getting used to now! but we did find an empty park with swings which our bums could fit on, so that was brilliant as we hadn't been on swings for years!!! oh we also found our first veggie place which was a chinese buffet and was delicious cos it wasn't cheese!! and in the evening we found a fast food place selling soya burgers, so i was extremely happy that day! cordoba-our first cold day- not nice ... read more
