Patagonia significa grandi piedi, fu chiamata così dai ... read more

Travelling from Bahia Blanca to Caleta Olivia were transit days with initially lots of farms then crops then fairly barren looking land whîch had a few sheep and cattle, horses, rhea and guanacos. Heading further south toward Santa Cruz there were large stretches of not much but straight road and wind so it was always very pleasing to see a gas station. The river looked beautiful at Corpen Aike which reminded me a bit of Cromwell. There was also some superb coastal riding and in great conditions too. We had an easy entrance into Chile and spent the night in Porvenir which seemed to be a town with a lot of work happening. At 10.45pm it was still twilight and the light came again at 4.30am. The next day we had another border crossing back into ... read more

Puerto Madryn, Punta Tomba, Rawson and Valdes Peninsula 17th March to the 23rd March On Tuesday (17th) I arrived in Puerto Madryn, a lovely coastal town in the Chubut region of Argentina. Straight away I loved the place, the beach with its sandy shoreline and blue blue sea. A different way to spend St. Patrick's day but lovely all the same. My hostel "Hi Patagonia" was very nice and the staff very good at organising trips (with no extra cost!!). Gaston even checked the tide times and weather conditions to see what day would give me the best chance of seeing Orca's - I went on Sunday, unfortunately the Orca's has appeared before my tour bus got there. :( I spent lots of days, wandering along the shore line, enjoying the warm weather and relaxing atmosphere ... read more

We arrived in Camarones and decided to stay put for 3 days. Hallelujah! Camarones is so simple and tranquil, a fishing village of about 1500 people. We spent our days dodging the tide on Camarones rocky cliffs and beaches and the nights BBQing local shrimp/fish, watching the sunset and playing cards. The kids became friends with a local dog.....Muffet/Rosie reincarnated (my old childhood dog) We enjoyed our final night in Camarones dining out eating their locally caught salmon which is a white salmon and their Lagostinas (shrimp).....MVP this is the place for you! Tomorrow we are on our way south to a place called Monte Leon!... read more

Jan.2/15 On the road again......I find Willys voice in my head often these days:) We have just left a small corky village called Puerto Pirmades, on the Pennisula Valdes, which is an animal reserve for multiple creatures! We arrived here on Jan.2 at about 6:30pm there is only one camp ground in the village to plug into.....it is like nowhere I've ever experienced, we are crammed in here like sardines. I feel like a through back from the 60's a true hippie:):) Jan.3/15 We woke in Puerto Pirmades and began to explore, this is a huge whale watching village for the " Right Whale" season ( Sept-Dec.) we missed that but decided to jump back into the RV and drive to Punta Norte the most northern point on the peninsula which was 80km from the village ... read more

Max's Blog Entry Hi guys, We are 2 weeks into our trip, my favourite experience so far was when we went to Punta Tombo. It's the 2nd largest colony of Magellanic Penguins in the world. The Penguins are really cool because they are so cute when they waddle. For the penguins to find food they swim up to 600km. They eat the food then swim back home to find their burrow where their family is. To feed their family the Penguin barfs the food up and shares. It's really hard for the Penguins to find their burrows because there are hundreds of thousand, and if you walk in front of the penguin they get confused because they like to take the same route. Something that I find hard is to make friends because I don't know ... read more

Here we are all in Pourto Madryn on Argentina's Atlantic Coast. In the past few days we have ridden our motos through snow and sleet at -4 deg and now basking in the sun at 24 deg on the beach - Life is good!! We will be here for two nights before heading South We finally made it to San Carlos de Bariloche, a day late but as we had planed two nights here, we were back on schedule. I will include a few more photos of our ride through the snow and sleet, some from my GoPro and some from Melean as she followed us in the chase truck Poor Eric (my BMW) was castrated by Rippa a couple of days ago, but I only noticed this barbarc act yesterday, it appears that he wanted ... read more

We left Buenos Aires at 11am for our first experience of the lowest class on Argentinian buses, semi-cama, with a company called Andesmar. The bus journey was great. There were 4 films in a row in English with Spanish subtitles: The Bookthief, The Internship (which a 70+ year old man enjoyed watching the strip club scene), Now You See Me and Snitch. The seats are similar to Megabus in the UK. They're not as big and plush as the seats in cama and we probably would have slept better in cama, but it was fine and we must have slept 6+ hours. Overall the main difference between cama and semi-cama are the size and comfort of the seats, the food is pretty rubbish and not worth the extra money at all in my opinion. Cama seats ... read more

Leaving our beautiful digs in El Calafate, we headed back to the airport to our next destination - Puerto Madryn. Flying into Trelew, we grabbed a shuttle to Puerto Madryn about an hour away. Staying at a hostel this time, we had no real expectations and it ended up being pretty good. Despite the crazy amount of noise at night, mostly from a nearby nightclub and cars that were unnecessarily drag racing literally all night, the hostel was great. One of the best features was that we had access to a nice giant shared kitchen to use. We were excited to go to the grocery store to gather our ingredients and cook every night - something that would be a chore at home! There wasn't a whole lot to do in town other than walk around ... read more
