St. Patrick’s Day in New Zealand was soo much fun. We celebrated that night by going to a friend’s house (I played foosball and beat people - it was great), then town and barhopping. Before that, Esther and I had gone with Brad and Mike - American friends from Minnesota - to Bridal Veil Falls outside of Raglan, about 30-40 minutes away. They had all seen them before, but I hadn’t. There was a pool at the bottom and Brad swam in it - but he was the only one willing to be cold and miserable. On the way back up the trail someone discovered a vine hanging down a tree, and we played Tarzan with it (I wasn’t very good…I ran my back into the tree - not the best feeling). Then, on the road ... read more

Hey guys! Ok yeah ive been lazy and havnt updated my blog in AGES... its a hard thing to remember to do when you are surrounded by absolutly breath taking beaches! My first night in Sydney was not at all what i expected. I was in Bondi beach *the torist mecha of sydney* It was my first night officially on my own. and boy did i not like it at all! I had been so spoiled staying with Adam and Andy, that i had forgotten the real reason why i came here in the first place, to push myself and see what i was made of and the independence i could get. The hostel i was staying in for my first night of independence was not desirable! everything you think a dirty hostel is.. it was! ... read more

Sit Minn ... read more

So the plans have started. I gave notice to the boss last week. Gave him a date and I'll finish work on the 12th May. Had my interview with the Summer Camp IEP, last week. They are now sending my application off to the states to get placed. Looks like I'll be a specialist councellor. figured I would be anyway. They have given me a time frame of June that the camps start, so now I'm just waiting on a placement and a date I'll leave. So the plan is when I finish up work here on the 12th, I'll Have a couple of weeks back in Adelaide, maybe fit in a quick trip to Qld to see sista. I'll just crusie around untill the date I have to leave for camp. For those of you ... read more

First I must mention that on the day of my arrival at Torquay, the local newspaper, the Echo, grabbed me off the street and did an interview and photo. Expect an article this Thursday. After a casual Sunday drove to Melbourne. Nervous about arriving at dusk and the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games was on. No real problem though and woke Monday for assualt on Melbourne. Went to Age, Sun Herald and local newspaper offices. Left contact details. Hot shower at train station. Weather cool and cloudy. Reasonable response. Met a guy who had done a flag design which he showed me on his laptop. He had spent a lot of money getting flags printed and websites. Hadn't really sold any of the hundred he'd had made. He called it the seven gold stars, one ... read more

Well arrived in Auckland after being stuck on tarmac for hours whilst engineers fixed engine that had lost power. Luckily they got the inflight entertainment working first and managed to watch half the film whilst still on the ground. It also drowned out the very nervous passenger behind me who kept saying ‘I must get off I’ve jinxed the plane’. Still the flight crew were fab opened full bottles of Lindauer for us, then kept topping us up, so obviously had my number! Auckland - well so far it has been very noisy we are on the 7th floor of an apartment block, surrounded by loads of apartment blocks, that look that at one point they could all have been offices (the apartment actually has those awful vertical office blinds) its very modern, laminate floors, waste ... read more

Our last day on the beach was a bit on and off with the tropical rain storms, but was more than worth the odd bit of rain as the waves were, I can honestly say, the biggest I have ever seen in real-life and the local surfers took full advantage of this. These guys were seriously good surfers, I be surprised if at least one of them weren't Pro, it was amazing to watch and got some awesome footage! One last big night out in Byron with a pub crawl landed us on the beach for the sunrise, near the lighthouse which is the most easterly point in Australia, therefore the first place for the sun to shine Downunder, awesome. Sadly it was quite cloudy and the rain began to fall, but was still a fantastic ... read more

Hi Guys. I just thought I would give you a quick review of my adventure in the Everglades. Well, it really was an experience. The everglades are very beautiful, the water is quite still (which is a very good thing when you have three girls who have never kayaked before in their lives), the stars in the evening were amazing; the sky there was really clear and we saw three shooting stars in the space of about 10 minutes (thats got to be lucky), and on our second day there we visited a giant sand patch which was also very impressive. Apparantly the Everglades are described as a sub tropical marshland and we were reassured that crocodiles only live in tropical waters so that was good. We were also told though that Bull Sharks have been ... read more
