Ach, was ich ganz vergessen hatte: die Kiwis (Neuseeländer) sagen unheimlich gern "Sweet As".

Christmas day, and while this ‘trip’ may not be as exciting as some of out others it is the one that my darling daughter misses most, the trip to the café. Up early-ish and we take the dog as usual, but especially today as it is boxing day and as he is a boxer it is his special day. While Scott enjoys his long black and creamy mushrooms and chorizos, I swill down my latte and blueberry pancakes. Spike gets his treat of hash brown and bacon delivered to him by the indulgent café staff, spoilt dog. Apparently London doesn’t do breakfasts and Fran is really missing a good old kiwi café with good coffee and decent fresh breakfasts. So it just goes to show that some times the best trips are not to exotic far ... read more

Hey Guys Well, I know ive been neglecting the blog, but its all been rather hectic since my last tales were bestowed upon those unfortunate enough to be able to access the internet. I think I had come back from Queenstown the last time I wrote, as a young man (well, relatively speaking), with a head full of dreams but with pockets full of holes i had been invigorated by the south island scenery, this was soon knocked out of me after a couple of weeks back in Auckland (or after several beer soaked leaving dos - I cant quite remember which came first), but I was soon to find myself in the thick of it once more. Two weekends after my Queenstown Adventure, it was the New Zealand Leg of the WRC (World Rally Championship ... read more

Family fluttered around us like bugs to a lightbulb once we walked out of immigration and into the arrivals hall. Ok that was just my mother who was very excited. My grandmother mentioned something about cake and lemon meringue pie. Corb was calculating how long it would take him to get to GP Store to collect his Nintendo and whether he would make it before closing time. All sorts of other things were going on but I barely noticed. Home looked just the same. Dad fixed the tap in the kitchen, but put it on backwards. I tried to turn it off and got covered in water. Zoe (the dog) seems a lot older than when I left her; her face is mainly grey and she sounded one of those men in a World War One ... read more

I'm afraid I have got a bit behind with my blogging and have been back in Auckland a few days now after my bus trip with 'Stray'. I have been busy since I got back trying to sort out a van for John and I, he comes out on 19th at 5am and being Christmas week, there wasn't much hope of waiting until then!! I have managed to get one, a bit of a banger, but you get what you pay for. I also managed to find a mechanic willing to give it the once over and a service before we hit the road. I am fretting now, hoping he doesn't find anything majorly wrong with it. Its all a bit manic, so many vans, all probably have dubious qualities. So I just decided to ... read more

Well it's been a good day. Have moved into a nice hostel with free wireless internet and been working all day. Caroline has managed to pry my credit card out of my wallet and we have booked up a couple of events as Christmas presents to ourselves. On January 9th we will be off to see Tenacious D in Christchurch which will be really good as we understand that Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters and Meatloaf will be in support. Caroline has also managed to drag me to the Ballet in Auckland this Saturday to watch Giselle. It's music will be performed by the New Zealand Philharmonic Orchestra and we've got good seats for it so it will be a nice treat. Something different at least. By the time I get back to the UK, ... read more

Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still alive, but only just as zac convinced me that a bungy jump off the Auckland Bridge would be a good idear yesterday. It was not a good idear at all, not one little bit & when i get back you can watch the dvd & see how bad it actually was, i am never doing that again, well not sober!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We haven't really done much since i last wrote as both of us have been feeling a bit out of sorts. have climbed Mt Eden though, amazing views of Auckland city, you could see some of the other volcanos & the skytower & the bridge. New ZealandLeft Los Angeles on the 2nd of December. Lost the 3rd somewhere in the Pacific. Arrived in Auckland at Micah's house early in the morning. Micah was at work and Heidi was still sleeping. Austi was happy to see us. The first thing out of his mouth was - "We have fireworks!" We were in New Zealand for 49 days. We stayed at Micah's house in Auckland for the first week and then traveled north to the Bay of Islands for a few days to give Micah, Heidi and Austi some space. We returned to Auckland on the day before Micah started his Christmas vacation from work. The five of us then piled into Micah's Nissan Pulsar and took an 8 day trip around the East Cape of the North Island. We looked like a ... read more
