Er zijn hier veel kookscholen uit de grond gestampt in de grotere steden. De kookscholen gaan eigenlijk over 'leren koken op grootmoeders wijze'. Dus confituren maken, groenten en fruit inleggen, zepen maken, marmelade's, chutney's, sausen,... Want 'money matters' – 'geld telt'. Tijdens mijn verblijf bij Jizzy & Mike heb ik dit ook geleerd om augurken in te leggen en rode biet chutney te maken , hoera hoera! Punch (alcoholisch drankje) is terug in! NZ is helemaal in de ban van Downtown Abbey , de serie. De tijd van vroeger komt terug...je kan dit hier zelf in de supermarkt kopen. Maar alles is goedkoper als je het zelf maakt. Had a great trip with no jetlag so far! From the plane we got our first views of the Land of the long white cloud. I can see why, a narrow strip of land with light cloud on top, the whole way into Auckland. It looked beautiful. Green, fabulous beaches, tiny islands and surrounded by sea. Looked a bit like Scotland from the air, rolling hills. But close up the vegetation's jungle. Hardly recognised a single plant except agapanthus which grows like a weed here. Took a high speed ferry to the North Shore, so mamaged to take a panorama of Aucland City. Everything feels like home, but different. Perfect.... read more

Our travels are now coming to an end, and here we are now at Auckland airport awaiting our flight to Seoul, Korea and then on to London. After the hot pools a few days ago, we went to see my old friend Chris from university, who now lives near Christchurch. We had a great night catching up, and it was nice to have a proper bed after the weeks in the campervan! Yesterday we dropped the van off in Christchurch (sad to see it go, but happy to get back to proper showers and beds!) and then caught a flight over to Auckland where we stayed last night. Bonjour à vous tous ! Voici enfin des nouvelles ! Je suis ici depuis deux jours, et il tombe de la pluie.. beaucoup de pluie. Genre je ne comprend pas ou va toutes cette eau. Mais les Kiwi sont très comique, ils sont capable de totalement l'ignorer.. J'étais pas mal fatigué quand je suis arrivé. Mais je dois dire que Air New Zealand c'est fantastique, très agréable. Je me promener pas mal en ville, c'est assez simple de ne pas se perdre. Hier j'ai fais une excursion à Waitomo et Te Puia (un village Maori). Avec toutes cette pluie je n'ai pas pu prendre beaucoup de photo malheureusement.. Ce soir c'est le Nouvel an, je vais me trouver un beau party.. Today marks my last day in the wonderful world of New Zealand (it was actually 3 weeks ago but shhhhhh no one will notice that I wrote this and forgot to publish it) and I couldn't be more sad to leave, I have had such an amazing time here and just wish I could stay for a lot longer (probably not forever though) but tomorrow I head off to India which should be interesting and might take some getting used to. During my last week in New Zealand I have been to some of the most beautiful places ever, my final day in Queenstown was spent in Milford Sound which involved to longest bus ride to get there but it was totally worth it.
