Arrived on Mana island on 19th of Feb..we think. Here time ad dates are forgotten about. It was about an hour n a half on the ferry and i wasnt sea sick (laura) woo hoo! The island was amazing, met some really cool people and did some trips out. sam went fishing for his dinner and we both went to the island of Modriki where they filmed Castaway which was cool. Ate our first coconut...urgh and did some pretty good snorkelling. I managed to lose my towel after two days of being there, left it on the beach and went for a walk, when I came back it was high tide again!Gutted. The weather was quality and the beer was cold so that was good news. Everyone we met was real friendly so we all partied ... read more

Just to let y'all know we're still alive. Computer works on "Fiji Time" so proper entry to follow. Crazy little island - been making jewellery out of coconut shells and weaving baskets out of palms. Oh and drinking Fiji beer of course. Loved San Francisco. Not so keen on LA but did the Hollywood thing. Off to Auckland Friday - proper update when we get back to civilisation. ... read more

We did try to do more than lie on the beach yesterday however when we went in teh sea to snorkel we were gettin lots of little stings so we ran out with Kates crys of 'ooowwwwwww' ringing in my ears! We later found out that coz the wind had changed it had brought in sea lice (eugh!) So we sat by the pool all day instead! (its a hard life) After our hard days lying around the pool we then went on a boat trip to watch the sunset it took us all the way around bounty island and Kate and her trigger happy finger got some 'AMAZING' pictures. We also saw a reef shark (which are quite titchy but we still saw a shark!!) Today is our last whole day in Fiji we catch ... read more

We left southsea the bad weather and bad moods behind us and caught the ferry to Bounty Island 'celebrity love island'. We had a walk around the island and found the love shack which they have let go to ruins which is a real shame as they could rent it out for top dollar! We've had a couple of happy cocktails tonight which were really good. Going to try and actually try and do something tomorrow other than lying on our arses all day!... read more

It rained most of yesterday here i have nothing to say! I had a very early night last night and left Kate in the bar. Today has been quite windy and overcast but it was nice as we could bear to sit in it. At 5 we left beachcomber to come to southsea island. It is tiny and u can walk around teh whole island in less than 5 mins! After dinner we forced by a member of staff (who made us feel like we were at school) with people we dont know to do a quiz on Fiji. Kate teams won WOO HOO! We then had a crab race which was quite AMAZING! some of the people decided to try drinking beer through a snorkel and the face mask on. They tried to get Kate ... read more

Hey Everyone, So we arrived in Fiji Jan. 30th at 5:00am. Great flight with Air Pacific, would definitely recommend a flight with them. When we got into the airport, we were escorted up the stairs with a women who was going to help us book some resorts on the island. The original plan was to go to Nacula Island for 3 nights. The ferry is very expensive here, to get to the tip of the islands is $100 FJ one way per person. Crazy! But we are now realizing that everything is expensive here, no matter what you do. The only reason these original plans did not work out is because we missed the ferry (not our fault). But it may have been a blessing is one way, we have been talking to other people who ... read more

We went accross to Kuata island this morning we did some snorkling and saw some amazing fish with really bright colours (we also got freaked out by the abundance of jelly fish!) We had lunch on Kuata and soon after made the short boat trip back to Wayalali collected our bags and met the big ferry to make our way to beachcomber.... Its very different here....massive bar.....stage.....inside showers......in other words its more like our world!! We got extremley drunk last night(hence i am writing this this morning) We also met a girl we went to school with and have not seen since we left so a good 15 years!!!! Danced around to some well dodgy tunes but had a laugh 1st time we have been really drunk since we have been away! AMAZING!! Dont feel to ... read more

OK, so it's now Christmas time but I have been kind of busy! No excuse really good enough for taking so long to do a blog of a holiday we took 4 months ago although I did have a big exam, etc, etc. Anyway, in case you haven't guessed we went to Fiji in August for a wee winter warmer break and this is the story of that holiday! If I can remember any of it.... NZ was having a poor winter weather-wise (and its not got much better to be honest!) so we really needed to get away to warmer climes for a short break. Fiji is only a 4-hour flight from Wellington but what a difference in temperature - from 10 to 28 degrees in just 4 hours! Nice.... Aah, Fiji - beautiful Pacific ... read more

What can we say… it’s the place where Jo turned thirty and the place where we got engaged!! It was the best resort, best food, best staff, and best all round holiday we have ever experienced. We kayaked around the island, went snorkeling on the most dazzling of coral reefs and enjoyed sunsets from the surf. The pictures may give a little away but by no means convey the island paradise that you feel apart of when staying on Matamanoa. We had a great time there and spent quite a few hours over drinks and dinner chatting with a newly wed couple from Melbourne, Australia (what is it about people from Melbourne, they can’t all be this nice??!!). We hope to catch up with Trish and Milan again in the new year and we both look ... read more
