Canarvon to Middalya Driving up the northwest costal highway we stop just south of Canarvon at a spot called new beach this was going to be our camp ground for the night. But by the time we had cooked the squid we had caught in Denham the flies were driving us all nuts. Zoe wanted to phone home as her Mum was due out of hospital from her hip operation. Natalie too wanted to phone home, so as we were not impressed with our choice of campsite and there were no quarrels from the boys’ side. We packed up and headed into Canarvon itself which is surprisingly small considering the size of dot it gets on the map. After a quick explore through the town to find there are a few small shops in the centre, ... read more

After being picked from the roadhouse the night before. It quite nise to be back at Middalya. All the kids had had a great time while they had been away, all the adults were pretty much knackered. But everyone was pleased to be back. Over the next week I spent most of my time doing the gardening or cleaning cars as well my normal jobs. The weather was still hot, well above 40 degrees. Also there was a cyclone building in the north, that was heading west out to sea and then expected to turn and come back down the west coast. This could cause problems. so from the weekend onwards there was constant checking what the weather forcast was up to, and what the predictions were for the cyclone. By Tuesday the cyclone was ... read more

Early wednesday morning I arrived at the Minilya Roadhouse. Where was to be working for the next week. Tiff introduced me John and Jenny the mangers, who informed me of the unfortunate problem with staff. Apparrently they had had an older couple working for them and the victorian police had turned up a couple of days ago and taken the husband for being a known peodofile. On top of that two other members of staff quit because they didn't think it was fair that the guy had been arrested, makes no sense to me. Anyway I found it quite nice working at the roadhouse. I got well with the other three girl's. Libbie, Naomi and Jess. For the first few days I was just doing cashier work and washing up. but by the end of the ... read more

After a 15 hour Journey the day, Which I’ll have to say was pretty uninteresting, as bus journeys are known to be. I arrived late that evening in Carnarvan, where I was picked up by Doug and taken back to the local motel where the rest of the family are staying. After a good nights sleep, it's up early to have breakfast and meet everyone again. Doug then heads back to the station while Me, Tiff and the kids do the shopping before leaving the town behind us and head into the outback, to Middalya Station. All the kids seemed really pleased to be heading back and couldn't wait to show me their home. On the journey there, I told a lot about what to expect. The station it's self is half a million acre's. ... read more

Sorry we have not updated the web for a while however we have spent 3 web sessions trying to download immages on to the blog. However this is not working for us. We are not sure if it is because our new camera is taking photo's too l;arge to download and we can not download the program to make them smaller either. We will share pictures when we get home although I am not poetic enough to describe some of the amazing views that we have been able to see so far on our trip. 16th Sept. This morning we said a sad and fretful goodbye to Dennis and Dave as we put them on a plane for Melbourne and a week later we are having so much fun that we hardly miss them but have ... read more

***Sorry been soooo busy sunning, snorkelling and travelling. I am a few days behind but will try and get up to date soon. Don't forget no pressure and on holidays, if you know what we mean!!! Day 33 - Friday 5 May 2006 Kalbarri Graeme and Duane went fishing this morning. Duane caught a silver bream. We went out in the tinny this afternoon over to the island but the weather turned windy and it was quite rocky in the tinny. We visited the island across the river where the pelicans have learnt to ring a big bell for return trips for people that have been dropped off at the hire boat company to come and collect them. Day 34 - Saturday 6 May 2006 Kalbarri to Monkey Mia We were very excited this morning as ... read more

On The Road Again, Reef Break, Princess Shirly, Muddy River & Johnnie Jump, Top Of The Genocide List, Moon Window. (First appologies, this crap PC does not have USB so i cant upload any pics (will try to another time), It also lacks word or any other typing program to manage my spelling. Think Phonetics, i doo.) Well having Betty back on the Bitumin was a real releif but it took a lot longer than it should, i think Shane rather fancied the old girl and kept her in over a weekend for a little auto action. With our cabin feaver reaching its zenith we decide to take Bruces bright yellow Hyundi Getz hire car (from now on called Mellow Yellow) up the coast a hundred and a bit k's.
