Our trip to Frasier Island was fantastic. We went with an organised group in a 17 seater 4WD truck thing. The company we went with were called Trailblazer Tours and this is the exact tour we did: 99% of backpackers go for the self-drive tours and seem to enjoy it, mainly because of the cheap prices! However, with the guided tour: -All food cooked for you and included in price -All petrol included in price -Guide drives, much lower risk of getting stuck in sand, and no risk of having to pay for damage to jeep -Guide gets everyone up early and on the road, so you do LOADS more -Guide knows best times to get to each spot to avoid the crowds -Fridge to put your beer in !!!! -Guide is super knowledgable It's an ... read more

That’s Right we said The Great “BLUE” Barrier Reef! We expected the ocean to be BLUE and we were not disappointed! What took us by surprise was the other BLUE things we would encounter. After a bit of a bumpy ride on windy seas their were several greenish BLUE faces on the boat. When we arrived at the reef the we were told to don our lovely tight bright BLUE wetsuits. Most surprising of all was the tiny BLUE bottle jellyfish swimming all around us in the water. Now we don’t want you to think we didn’t enjoy going to the Great Barrier Reef. First, luckily none of us got sea sick and secondly none of us got stung by the jellyfish. As for the lovely wetsuits…okay that made us feel very silly… but we were ... read more

Brisbane life is great. We're well settled into our 2 bedroom appartment. It's very close to the city, 7 minutes on a train and the station is within stumbling distance of the appartment. Andy & Anto have been living with us for almost 6 weeks now, and everyone is getting on well. We're all working. My contract is due to finish on Friday the 29th but the others are about half-way into 2 month contracts. For those of you who don't know the lads, I suggest you visit their websites to find out more about them..... After the farm, we headed off back down to Cairns to take in the sights and sounds of Cape Tribulation which is farther north from Cairns, it's a beautiful area full of pristine tropical rainforest, we had a few days down there before heading off. On the way back we decided to do a spot if hang gliding, ( Jo's idea, and what a great one!!! ), weather conditions were just about perfect, the views were amazing and the experience was one not to be forgotten for a while, needless to say we loved it! After spending all that money we thought another job might be a good idea so we phoned Pat up and asked about returning to the farm for a few weeks more, unfortunately he was full up but his best friend just ... read more

Holy Crap! So, i'm sure many of you don't remember who this Mark Richardson character is as you haven't heard from him in over a month (i think). Hopefully some of you haven't forgotten me, such as Paul, no you're not an only child, you have a brother. To all of the others, you might remember me from places such as Animal Critical Care:where the animals get better and the staff get crazy, Kamloops, where the air is Pulp Mill fresh, and just people who i've known since infancy or school, or from the busy party schedule of Riverside, wett bar, pound, and the beloved ozone, and a few great people i've met along the way in this big island. So, where the hell have i been and what have i been doing? Well, i've been ... read more

Well, we survived our 3 day sailing trip (even though someone brought bananas on board - v. bad luck) so we aren't totally jinxed when it comes to boats. The Whitsundays really are as beautiful as the pictures and we had a great crew (who were all younger than the passengers!) Made lots of new friends, including a Dodgers' fan, which made the trip for Karl. We all slept on deck under the stars and with the help of lots of medication (and beer) I managed not to throw up once. Once back on land we had a little farewell party with everyone in Airlie Beach and made our way down to Hervey Bay the next day. Back to the beach now...... read more

This camper (if I can figure out how to put the photo on) will be our home for the rest of our time in Oz. We're cruising down the East coast and currently in Airlie Beach. Spent a few days at Cape Tribulation, where we stayed with some crazy croc-hunting Aussies and got to know quite a few insects, lizards and toads (and a lovely Irish couple). Went on a little catamaran and spent the day snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef, which was awesome mate! Saw lots of colourful fish and coral - there are some v. weird things out there in the sea! Tomorrow we start a 3 day sailing trip around the Whitsunday Islands so I've stocked up on the motion sickness pills and Karl's stocked up on the VB. Hoping to survive ... read more
