Well it’s only been 6 months since my last blog…. Let’s see how much of the last half a year I can remember!! The last time I wrote I had just come back from travelling down the east coast with my family. When I returned I continued working as a kitchen hand in a local nursing home though I wasn’t getting nearly enough hours and needed to pick up some fruit picking work in order to extend my work visa. (By completing 12 weeks fruit picking in regional Australia my one year work visa can be extended to two years) luckily it was the right time of year to get some strawberry picking work in the local area and so a move north to the fruit picking capital of Bundaberg wasn’t necessary. I started working at ... read more

We checked in at Oak Seaforth Resort at around 2pm. The holiday apartment we booked is fully self-contained with an ensuite and spa. The balcony is massive - just perfect for star gazing on a clear starry night. Although the apartment have a fully equipped kitchen, we ate out most of the time. I only cooked dinner once but managed to set off the smoke alarm at least four times and got the apartment filled with smoke. The smell of steak lingered in the air throughout the night and became too much on the nose (I guess I won’t be cooking steak for awhile). The lagoon at the resort was refreshingly enchanting. A lady was observing Ryan intently while wading around pool. She got really fond of Ryan just watching him venture and test his limits ... read more

I moved my way down the Queensland coast towards the Sunshine Coast. My first stop was Airlie Beach, a small town and gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. I only spent one day in the area, enough time to take a day trip to the islands. The Whitsunday Islands is a group of about 90 islands of the mainland. All but four of them are predominantly national parks. My day trip consisted of a stop at Whitehaven Beach, a 6km beach with white sands and turquoise waters. It is rumored to be one of the finest beaches in Australia. The sand is silicon sand, and you can tell as it squeaks when you walk on it. The rest of the day included a bushwalk to a lookout onto some of the other islands and an afternoon of ... read more

Hi all, Well I've well and truly left the Molle behind and what a relief to say the least. Chilling out on The Sunshine Coast, visiting the parents and showing the coast to Marc & Dev from the Molle. Waiting on all my final documents to get to The UAE and for them to book me on a plane. Hopefully the next entry will be from over there with some photos of the palace to show you all. Lotsa luv and good cheer to all, Scott... read more

G'day all Thought I would update you all early as have a busy week planned so not sure when would next get to a computer and hard to keep track of everything I have done so here is the newest update! We arrived in Port MacQuarie on Monday after leaving Lynseys and found a nice site near to the town. Port MacQuarie was lovely, very picturesque with obviously a harbour and gorgeous beaches and tons of quirky little shops. We did'nt arrive there until late afternoon so went out for dinner that night (yes we have been cooking in the van all the other nights). On the Tuesday we headed to a Koala Sanctuary and saw loads more animals and got to pet a Koala which was cool and there was a huge enclosure where we ... read more

Hi all, just think you have another 5 months of these to read at least!! We arrived in Port Macquarie on the Monday after leaving Lynseys and found a nice site near to the town. Port Macquarie was very picturesque with obviously a harbour and great beaches and tons of quirky little shops. We didn’t arrive there until late afternoon so decided to eat out (for a change) and found a great Indian restaurant. On the Tuesday we headed to a Koala Sanctuary and pet a Koala whilst it tried to sleep. Then we went to the Kangaroo enclosure to harass and feed them. A lot of them had tiny Joey's which would poke their heads out every now and then to try and steal a feed, very cute! After this we decided to head to ... read more

Hello again from the Cannons! We have had a very nice relaxing last 10 days and are now on our last night of visiting before its back to the campervan and the harsh reality of our little hard bunks. We had a great time staying at Pat and Johns in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and yes, I finally got to go to my Rodeo. Before that, we spent a couple of days just relaxing, picking fresh grapefruits, mandarins and carrots to eat and visiting the local post office (no door to door service here, its hop in the Ute and down to the personal little box at the Post Office - lucky I don't live here as I don't think they would cope with all my Ebay parcels) and then it was a drive around the ... read more

So we have been on the road for a few weeks now and been to quite a lot of places and started to get used to living in a van. First off, we left Brisbane and headed south to Byron Bay for a couple of days. John was getting his Skydiving Gear sent over from the UK so we had to return to Brisbane anyway. Byron Bay was great. The beach was really beautiful and it had a nice "small town" kind of feel to it. Didn't find a great deal to do as we were still making changes to the van for comfort purposes. Did make it to the beach to top up the tan though. Our first night in the van was an experience, we certainly hadn't planned for such cold temperatures and soon ... read more

G'day. Well it couldn't last and for the last few days the weather has taken a bit of a turn for the worse. A few showers mixed with a bit of a cold wind. Nothing to really stop us enjoying ourselves (apart from abstinence from the pool and the sea.) Abstinence: now there's astrange word to find in our travel diary! Our days and weeks seem to be following a similar trend. Some sight-seeing, discovering the local eating and drinking places, using said places (sometimes to excess!!) and going for long walks. The highlight so far of our time here on the Sunshine Coast has to be Linda's birthday on Sunday. We hadn't arranged anything as we are having a barbie net weekend and we were unsure about the weather. As it turned out the weather ... read more
