I can't believe I have been in Oz for for roughly 3 months already!! Time is flying by!! I have been very busy with work trying to save some cash - and pay some back. I have been spending most of my evenings working at sierra cafe/bar in Noosa which has turned out to be great fun. The people I work with are lovely and the general chilled out vibe means I don't have to be a great waitress - just as well really! I have also scored a sweet deal on a shared house with a great housemate and a swimming pool. It would be very easy just to get stuck here especially as Katie and Eva are just up the road. I can't believe the difference in Eva, she is a whole little person, ... read more

Noosa! En route to Noosa our bus driver stopped off at the, "Wild Horse Lookout". What felt like a massive trek up a 60 degree incline took us up to a look out over a massive mountain range. The views were amazing, the look out historically was used to spot forest fires throughout the countryside. We stayed in the Noosa YHA which was a really cute hostel. Noosa was lovely, quiet and beautiful. I seriously considered signing up for job in the hostel and staying there for a month. It was lovely to relax for a bit - since we had been boozing every night since we arrived in Australia. Noosa has a massive National park with loads of different walking routes. we choose the coastal route so that we could keep close to the ... read more

After coming back from Fraser there was not that much left on the way to Brisbane, next stop was Noosa. To be honest, we don't really remember what we did there for 3 days.... it was nothing special, nice posh town... we stayed in campsite where we both refused to pay so we slept in a minibus and every morning disappeared before the office opened, while the rest of them slept in... the only thing we felt gutted about was that we found out too late they had a bath in the camp grounds... Our days in the "Play Bus " were coming to the end and one last stop was the Ozzie Zoo, we both not very keen on Zoo's and to pay $52 to get in did not make us to want to go ... read more

CRICKEY MATE!!!! We caught the bus to Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin's famous zoo!) this morning. It took just over an hour to get there. But the journey was far from boring as they played DVDs of Steve Irwin showing us around his zoo. When we finally got there we did the suggested route around the zoo, they had giant tortoises, turtles, lemurs, a komodo dragon, tigers, crocs (one was called Amy!), elephants (we got to hand feed them!!), koalas, kanagaroos (we got to feed these too!), a small petting zoo with lambs and goats, lucy loved this! And snakes, wombats, birds, tasmanian devils, a camel, and even dingoes.. there were many more, but we have forgotten! :( We spent the day there then got the bus to back to Noosa only to find that we ... read more

Kayaking at Sunset We had quite a chilled out morning, we checked our emails and uploaded some photos then had lunch before grabbing the free kayaks that the hostel provide. We were scared actually getting in the thing without it tipping as we sort of had to jump in off the jetty. But we managed to wedge the kayaks in some rocks before safely stepping in. Lucy had to get a man to come and help her and she got in after me. We kayaked around the river through Noosa and did a loop. The weather was gorgeous and the views were amazing. It was really nice to see Noosa from a completely different angle. The sun was setting over the river as we paddled around for a few hours. We called a man over ... read more

Watching the Surfers We got the free bus into Noosa town centre today. It seems to be quite a wealthy beach town, lots of restaurants and boutiques. We had a wander around town and watched the surfers. Although the beach was closed due to dangerous conditions - it is still raining and windy! There were hundreds of surfers....pretty cool watching them. We did a national park walk in the afternoon. Cooked fish and mash potato for dinner! Trying to be healthy. We also met Karen from London who is travelling a very similiar route to us (Hurrah! finally we are not the only ones heading South!). Lucy x ... read more

Goodbye Rainbow Beach *sob We said our goodbyes to Chris and Vince this morning - they are heading North so we wont be seeing them again! :-( We got on the Greyhound bus at 10am and arrived in Noosa just after lunch time. A courtesy bus picked us up and took us to our hostel 'Noosa Backpackers Resort'. We had heard good things about this hostel so had high hopes. I expect in summer it is lovely, but in winter wooden slates in the bedroom arent good....you couldnt shut them....it was freezing. We had a few empty beds in the dorm so we pinched some mattresses and blocked off all the windows. Still feeling tired from Fraser Island Amy slept the whole afternoon - if you can't beat them, join them - so we both ... read more

Today we woke up about twenty minutes before checkout trying to get as much sleep as possible. We got up, checked out and then went back to the room to pack up. After packing and studying we went back out surfing, the only real thing to do in this town. We went back that same beach which I believe is called Little Cove and surfed a again. This is the first day that I did not feel like and idiot surfing with all the locals. The locals never did mind the whole time us being there that week however you do feel bad taking waves and then falling on your face five metres after taking the wave. Anyways the waves were quite flat so you had to be very patient waiting for a wave and the ... read more
