Hej folkens. Paa hjemvejen blev ... read more

Well, here i am! I have finally got myself a travel blog of my own. My adventures start at the beautiful South Molle Island, The Whitsundays, Quensland. This has been my home for the last 10 months now and i am still enyoying it. I have made more friends here over the last 10 months than probabily what i had throughout my schooling life. Which is both good and bad (i suppose), it can be qiute hard to meet some really great people and then say good bye a few months later. I have made some good contacts world wide and i think i have also made some lasting impressions also. Next is Christmas and New Years on an island, well- i have never done that so it should be interesting!... read more

Thursday 14th - Saturday 16th December. As I boarded the 8:35 Sunlander for my eight hour journey heading south from Cairns I grabbed a copy of the local rag, The Cairns Post and it had me smiling straight away. Just imagine these headlines in The Daily Telegraph; "Dob In Hoons, Urges Top Cop" which roughly translates in English to tell the police if you know any drink drivers, "Grog Bender Ends In Court" (self explanatory) and "Sniff Again And Go To Jail", a magistrates' warning to alleged rapist Trevor Norton that his PAINT sniffing habit (yes paint) was doing nobody any good and that his 'chroming habit' must cease with immediate effect. What sort of people are these ? At 10am an intercom announcement advised us that the first movie of the day was about to ... read more

July 24 - 28, 2006 The drive from Hervey Bay to Cairns, essentially the stopping point of our Australian odyssey, represented a pretty big chunk of road. The drive amounted to about 1468.2 kilometers north through Queensland and included a diversity of towns and sites made cohesive solely by their residing in the same state. It felt a little disjointed, this mish-mash of places, but we enjoyed the bright, sunny days of driving along the coast and through fields of sugar cane. Monday, July 24, our first day out of Hervey Bay, we intended to drive to Mackay, a popular jumping off point for exploring the Whitsunday Islands. Aussie distances, our increasingly late starts and the practical limitation of driving after dark saw us stop about 3-4 hours shy of Mackay in Rockhampton, the beef capital ... read more

Ok I have so much to update!!! Yikes, when you don’t keep right on top of this blog, you end up having pages to write. I think I’ll break it up a bit, so my locations may be a bit off from where I really am (Brisbane), as I want my journey going with a bit of a flow so you can all see where I have been. Ok first all the flight over the reef was so cool! (Thank you Mom and Ken!!!) I actually almost missed the flight due to the tour booking company giving me wrong information, but no bother. The plane I traveled in was a sea plane and was built in Canada. The pilot seemed to be very proud of that fact. Hmmmm……maybe he was hitting on me???? He put me ... read more

Got the Greyhound bus to Airlie Beach and checked into Magnums resort. Our room was very shitty and only had a bed in it, and we had to share a bathroom with 8 other rooms. However the complex was cool and always lively and made a refreshing change being back in civilisation. It had a big open area, with bars and clubs and open air live performances, many restaurants and places to get food. I entered a pool tourney but was pants as me and Jo had got through several jugs of beer by this point. We spent the evening chatting to a cool Irish guy and some quality Israeli guys. The next day we were hanging so we spent the afternoon writing xmas postcards to the family and chilling out by a lagoon. The following ... read more

This website is driving me buggy today. It's horrible inefficient with the uploading of photos. In the time it takes me to move one photo from my iPod to travelblog, this computer can move about 100 photos from my memory card to my iPod, and no I'm not trying to do both at the same time. Just wanted to let you all know that I've updated some photos. Not just for the last entry but for others as well so be sure to go back to the beginning and catch up on a gew photos. Sorry they are not all in order as the website crapped out on me with about 10 of the photo upload attempts so I just started putting them on very slowly and randomly. More later. I'm going to stay one more ... read more

Although I can not see the mechanism, I just KNOW there is some form of device making my stool, and this entire hostel to gently sway and bob...I'll let you know if I find the kill switch. Sailing on The Samurai was awesome! fantastic sailing excellent snorkelling and brilliant scube diving on amazing coral reefs! this is why I'm here...and all 15 others on board were very nice friednly people, if not a little more inclined to party than myself. I however was in great shape day 2 for the snorkelling and diving than pretty much 80% of the boat who partied a bit too hard night 1. I saw too many things to name, Napoleon Maori Wrasse, an absolute giant of a fish, about 4 feet long and two feet deep. clownfish, bluespotted stingray, spotted ... read more

G-Day! I am currently in Airlie Beach. Slowly but surely making my way down the East Coast. I think my last update said I was heading to Magnetic Island. I hopped on the bus at 12:30 am and we drove all night to Townsville. Along the way there was a bit of a mishap. We got to Tully and stopped and picked up some more passengers. Shortly after that some weird noise had awoken me like a clunk of some sort. I look across to the seats on the opposite side and I could see the guy and girl talking and then the guy run up to the bus driver. I couldn’t tell what they were saying because they were talking in German. Next thing I know the bus stops, backs up, and turns around. I ... read more
