25/05/04 Well well, 2days ago, I made history for myself as I finally left Alice Springs after three fantastic months. We left The Alice at 5:15am and made our way to Kings Canyon. The views were amazing. Andrew, our tour guide, is fantastic. Throughout the past three days he has tought me so much about the Aborigies spiritual belives and customs that is has inspired me to write a book when I finally return home (God forbid) I want his job!!! The next day, after spending the night in a swag whilst it was raining, we set of early from our campsite to see Uluru and The Kata Tjuta. We did a two hour base walk in 1 1/2/hours, had cake and set off to see how the Amangu tribe survived here before we came along ... read more

Hello all! My name is Toni. I turn 26 on the 18th August and Darwin, Northern Territory is my home. In 87 days I am embarking on the trip of a lifetime! Very excited!! Pretty darn nervous too, but I think that's good!! At midnight on the 25th July, I fly to Sydney to spend some time with my Brother & his family, and also a good friend of mine. Then on the morning of August 2nd, I depart from Sydney (On Vietnam Airlines!) bound for Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), where I will have 7 hrs to have a look around, then off to Paris just before midnight. I'll have a couple of hours to get a grip on the Paris airport, which will be very helpful as I will definitely be returning there. Then ... read more

The top-end of down under...a place like NO other! As the big red-orange ball slowly sets on Australia’s Top-End horizon, it sinks and gradually dissolves out of sight. The warm tropical sea breezes blow the coconut tree palms softly as families picnic nearby on the northern foreshore by the Timor Sea. Darwin Australia - the top-end of the land down under. Also known as the Gateway to Asia, Darwin is located on latitude 12 south, meaning it’s very hot 9-months of the year, and just right for 3-months, or better known as the wet and dry season. Cyclones out in the sea bring the tropical rains & flooding. I’m hearing down south there is drought and fires, and they are much hotter than we are at times. We usually have our temps in the 30’s Celsius ... read more

In September 2003 I started travelling with a friend of mine. By car we drove around Australia in about 5 Months. Free-camping in National Parks, Surfing the Coast and Hiking in the Australian mountains. Car troubles in the middle of the outback were we got stuck for 5 days (a real Australian experience) The Best I liked West Australia with its beautiful nature and it's less touristy atmosphere!... read more

Yes its true. My days in this giant landmass are finally ending. We had a few extra days in the city of darwin...which for the joe's should maybe ring a bell....as it was an important city in WW2. It was bombed several times trying to fend off the asian menace.... But anyway...we have made the best of this time. For the first time in my tender life...I have partaken in a Free Beach....which you may know as a nude beach. Lara had done this in Brazil and I needed to even the scales, so we went. The name free beach is actually a nicer name for it...because thats how it feels to be galavanting around in the buff.....Free. The beach was pretty empty...so it wasnt too weird either. The best part is that I didnt burn ... read more

ah shucks...i truley wish i could be in several places at once. Cause there is no question i would love to attend the float trip even though i am surrounded by deep sea diving and outback safari's. If another one happens towards the end of august i am game. Anywho, i am back from yet another outback adventure. This time we were in the tropical Top End of australia in some of the largest national parks called kakadu and litchfield. These are full of wildlife and climate change. Some of the main features of the trip were relaxing in some waterfalls and various rock pools. We also went on a crocodile cruise. These are extremely popular up here as this area is one of the main sections were saltwater crocs slip into the bogs and billabongs ... read more

elo all The more days of adventure have passed in the outback. This segment was mainly a transport type trip from the middle of australia to the top end. Being that it was a long trip we were put into a big comfortable bus with lots of people from all over the world. The most interesting combination of people we had were some israeli soldiers and some u.s. navy and air force men. At one point in the trip the usa boys were cleaning dishes and the israeli soldiers were drying....meanwhile swapping stories and war talk. very interesting ease-dropping. our tour guide was also quite interesting, his name was cheif. he is a massive man that very closely resembles shrek. He plays blues, so we jammed. Quite a little hoot...if only i rocked more at blues. ... read more

g'day blokes and sheila's So the journey continues. We have left the cosmopoli-life of sydney and arrived in the Red Centre, otherwise known as the Outback. This is a truely a vast and desolate area. Almost no water or life for thousands of kilometers in all directions from the center. I don't know how much ya'll know about australia...but the super short history lesson is australia was a prison for england...but aboriginals(dark skinned people who have been around for 65,000 years and havent changed their lifestyle) were in the way....so they just massacred everyone they saw and stole all their land. As of the last 30 years, a bit of justice has creeped back...some lands were given back, and killing natives is not a good deed anymore. SO, center and northern australia is the main area ... read more

They boarded a flight to Alice Springs, intrigued as to what the Red Centre brings, from dreamtime stories, a culture treat, to drunk Aboriginals roaming the street. Didn’t stay for too long but up for some fun, they found novel ways to see the sun, they watched it set astride a camel’s hump, then rise in a balloon ride, touched down with a bump. They took a camping tour to Uluru, that’s Ayers Rock to me & you, Kings Canyon and The Olgas completed the tour, walked for hours, made their muscles sore. Slept under the stars wrapped up in a swag, on top of an ant’s nest - jeez what a dag! Ate damper bread cooked on the campfire, their joke repertoire was pretty dire. ... read more
