"Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch! Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" I am starting to think Lewis Carroll wrote that with Australia in mind and he just wasn't sure what the official name were for the various things that bit and had claws. Early this past week Abby got attacked by a horde of ‘sea lice’. These feisty organisms are really nasty little worms that live in birds, and then jump ship to snails where they do the whole egg/larvae thing and then they look for another bird to invade. Sometimes, worm larvae not being so bright, they mistake a baby’s leg for a duck or seagull and bingo - you have sea lice. They don’t stay on you like lice in America - but ... read more

A weekend to chill... so naturally being in Oz a beach would be wonderful! We had all heard that a place called Manly was a beautiful beach town, just North of Sydney across the water. Packed my board shorts and headed to the Circular Quay Harbour to jump on a ferry to Manly. The ferry went right around the Opera house and quite close to Harbour bridge, the views were stunning so it was cameras at the ready and super snapping began, sadly this computer doesn't have USB socket though darn it! will upload them soon. We arrived in Manly with lovely sunshine beating down on our highly sun-creamed bodies. The beach was a short walk and looked amazing. I was the only one to venture into the mildy cold sea to do some hard-core body ... read more

Since i saw a documentry on australia, when i was a "little vegemite" (lol) i wanted to go to Oz... i finally got my a** into gear and made it over...this is where it all begins.... on my flight from Bangkok to Sydney I met a few peeps on the plane... it was hillarious. Ben and I where bored with flying so while we were chatting away we drank a few beers... a few hours later the stewardess told us we couldn't have anymore coz 1. they had run out and 2. breaky was being served in 20 min... to be honest I think we did have enough. It was a gr8 plane party ... we exchanged numbers. Ben showed me all around Sydney which i really appreciated and of course the nightlife.... read more

17/11/05 - 19/11/05 Green express to CDG My alarm on the mobile phone starting beeping and buzzing at 5.30am, the phone was vibrating all over the table, it took a few moments for me to realise that this meant it was time to get up and get set to depart for the airport and my flight to London then Singapore. Jean and Beatrice drove me to the airport in the green bus. On the autoroute, we passed by the turnoffs to some outer Paris suburbs which had recently become infamous due to rioting and Molotov cocktail parties (this was as close as I got to any problems they had been encountering). Naturally, as I said “au revoir” I was filled with some mixed emotions, naturally I was excited to be going home and seeing Lorenza again ... read more

Right then, there has been a reason for a lack of updates due to the fact that we really haven't done that much but i will fill you of our recent adventures. The main job on our list was to find somewhere to live, so as I mentioned in my last blog, I was stuck on the internet trying to find a place. In the end we actually found a place listed in a booklet in a place called Coogee which is a small beach town just 30mins out of Sydney centre. We organised a viewing and found that it was right on the beach with a balcony looking over the beach... absolutley amazing view!!! Imagine your looking out to sea, the apartment is on the left hand side of the beach with only a small ... read more

Well I can't believe it, I thought I'd not packed the Manchester weather, but some-how it has joined me on the other side of the world.... it's been raining and windy since we arrived.. unbelieveable!!!!! But anyhoo, still having an awesome time, went straight to the Opera House and Harbour bridge when we arrived but I was very tired and jetlagged so it felt all a bit surreal and haven't been back since. Sydney is really cool, having a ball, but not doing very much at the moment other than trying to find a place to live so stuck on internet looking for apartments etc. Will keep you posted and things should be getting more interesting soon when we find a place to get our beauty sleep.... read more

Yep, only 5 weeks to go till i leave work and head back to Yamba for Xmas. Before then there's so much to do. Most of this is boring stuff like collating my super and getting Hep B shots, however, there are other, more exciting, tasks such as: - writing the "Best Men's" speech for Santi and Andee's wedding; - organising the bucks party in Kaui; and - attending the Harry Potter Goblet of Fire Premiere! and probably cooking turkey for the Xmas dinner. Today we went and marched against Howard's IR reforms. That was fun. This evening netball was cancelled so Yvette, Ross, Jonathan and I went to dinner at the Nelson. We've decided that in the remaining few weeks we're going to do our very own Podcast. After discovering all the Harry Potter Podcasts ... read more

Sophie and I wanted to fill up our valuable 2 weeks together so we took a 2hr train ride to Katoomba from Sydney and spent three days touring, hiking and partying in and around The Blue Mountains! We met a couple of other pommie girls and a few randoms at the local pub. Thanks goes to Jamie, our hostel manager and personal tour guide! Oh and his crazy friends Shane and Joe. We even rode the mountain climbing tram... and the explorer bus was wonderful and impressively reliable! :-) Once again, a good time was had by all!... read more
