The time has come when the beach bum in me just can't be held back any longer and the blonde hair makes a welcome come back. As all lads do on a quite night in we do each other hair??... hang on, no we're supposed to go out drink beer and talk about football, ah well, hair it is. Matt did a fantastic job of pulling each strand of hair through the plastic hat whilst I sat there and grimaced in pain. Looks lovely now though, the beach bum has returned. Other news to report is that the waves in Coogee have been huge the last few days. Stacey is coming to stay tomorrow who is from Lincoln uni, that we met on New Year's eve.... read more

WOW!!! What a show! No one does it better than Sydney. The fireworks for New Year's Eve (NYE) were spectacular!! And that was after waiting for 14 hours to see them. Most of the close sites had a person capacity. So, to get to the Front Row of the Opera House quay area we had to go early. We were there when they opened the gates at 10:00am. It was a long, hot wait. The temperature reached 102 degrees in the afternoon. Thank goodness for our umbrella, cold water, and the ocean breeze. Starting at 1:00 pm they provided some form of entertainment every hour. At 9:00 pm they did the first fireworks show. This was fired from 2 barges on each side of the bridge. After that show there was a lighted boat parade that ... read more

The guesthouse in Phuket wasn't the best. The room was massive though and full of little guests! I was exploring around the door and Hannah said "Get out, just get out!!" so I legged it and went back to see why as she was still speechless and there was a massive spider on the door! It was about the size of my hand and so big I couldn’t fit it into the glass to put it outside!! So we had to call the Thai man who found it very funny, “Oh spider” until he saw the size of it and had to eventually kill it to get it outside! This made me sad but it think it might have been one that bit you so hey ho! Had an awful nights sleep as me and Hannah ... read more

Arrived in Sydney and walked out of the airport terminal into a hairdryer! 32 degrees and it was half past five in the afternoon! Our first hostel/hotel was the Sydney Central on Wentworth, a budget hotel which despite having a fridge and tv in the room lacked the one essential... air con! Still it was fairly close to Darling Harbour and the city centre and we had a pleasant walk around getting used to the fact that we were now in Australia.. a strange feeling when the flight was only a few hours to get there but you're still thousands of miles away from home. We had an impressive tour of the Sydney Opera House. I'd never realised that the Opera House and adjoining concert hall were actually buildings inside buildings! To maximise the accoustics the ... read more

After our New Years celebrations, Carina and I finally made our way to Nelson Bay (where we had entended on taking a day trip a couple of times before). Many locals had recommended Nelson Bay to us, including Jamie, who had spent all his summers here at a caravan park with his grandparents. However, in the past few years, the area has become a huge tourist hub. Luckily for me, being a tourist hub isn't always a problem, and it meant that there were lots of activities to chose from. On the first day though, Carina and I were exhausted due to a definite lack of sleep, so we crashed early (after finding a campground near One Mile Beach). The next day we took the bus back to Nelson Bay and found a Dolphin Tour that ... read more

Wieder einmal heisse Weihnachten..... Frohes neues Jahr!!!!

We decied to have a big night out on monday night so Colin and Matt had both invited a couple of friends from work around. We played the usual Owen style drinking games that were always such a blast at uni. Sadly for Colin's mate, a chef from the Deep Blue resturaunt, an ozzie, he didn't come out the pther side too well off, in fact as bad as anyone could be. In fact unconciousness took a hold of him and we had to then carry him outside only to find outside that he had been to to toilet through Matt and Chris's room and decided to try and take some things with him, but not what you would expect?! He had stuffed a hand full of Chris's boxers down his own boxers and put Chris's ... read more

On Xmas eve some of us were going to goto Manly Beach and play some beach volleyball/football, frolick in the sea and lap up the rays. But everyone had quite a bit to organise and sort out, which was dissapointing! Capri and I had a spat and then Jason got involved when it was nothing to do with him. I like Jason but he does stick his nose in where its not wanted sometimes and he is very stubborn. After kind of sorting the problems out Jason proceeded to drink a whole bottle of wine to himself before we went out for the chinese in the evening. The chinese meal was very good, the service wasn't brilliant but it was a nice way to see in Xmas. The funniest moment happened when there was a misunderstanding ... read more
