Ja, saa sitter jeg her igjen da, paa flyplassen i Sydney.

A bunch of us from Swanston Street C.O.C headed to our first Hillsongs Conference for 7 days. I was with four other girls in one apartment, with one bathroom. Surprisingly we didn't kill each other! I remember Lil being on the mattress next to mine on the floor. When you're seeing and living with the same people every day for 7 days, you develop a bond and Lil, Von, Chrissy and I are still the best of friends until now, despite Chrissy being back in Mauritius. ... read more

Arrived in Sydney. Scott and I bought a camper van this morning and it is soooo groovy! It is brightly painted with flowers, mushrooms and a sunshine, and has curtains, a bed, carpet, a little camper stove and a cabinet to keep all our clothes etc in! The weather here is weird. It was pouring it down with rain this morning, so we spent all morning getting soaked whilst running around trying to buy a van. Some of the ones we looked at were pathetic, but when we saw this one we bought it on the spot - hope its OK. The weather is nice now and we are at Bondi Beach...guess why I am here at e-mail instead of sunning myself and regaining the tan I lost in New Zealand? The retard at check-in in ... read more

I wanted to get up pretty early today, as I wanted to take a photo of where I had been staying during my time in Sydney. This meant that I had now finished another photo film roll. Bryan then drove me to a film processing shop that does a ‘one-hour turnaround’. My flight was taking off at 16:30, but due to ‘enforced security checks’, I had to be checked-in by 1:30pm. I began my packing this morning and realised I may have to leave a few bits behind, that I didn’t really need to take home, or stuff which I wouldn’t be allowed to take home, like spray deodorant. My suitcase was packed as tightly as possible, and I was a little worried it would be overweight. I just had to carry more hand luggage than ... read more

I wanted to get a few things today, as it was the penultimate day of my holiday, so Bryan and Damon took me up to the shopping mall, where I got some shirts for myself, and also a couple more triple camera film packs which cost $11 (£4) each. I also bought a couple of videos which I had seen on sale: ‘The Odd Couple’ and ‘The Odd Couple 2’, which are two of my favourites. We went home for a short while after that, giving my wallet some time to recover from the shock. Next stop was Darling Harbour, in Sydney, where we were going to visit the Sydney Aquarium. We parked in one of these large multi-storey car parks, and it was only a short walk on from there. They had remembered that I ... read more

After a tiring Saturday, I eventually woke up at 10:30am. Everyone was up early except for us ‘youngsters’. There’s something about a Sunday morning that doesn’t make it very appealing to get up. Anyway, I am on holiday still as well! It was going to be one of those ‘lazy’ days today, which I didn’t mind. It was a day I’d been looking forward to. My beloved West Ham were to play Blackburn in the Premiership. Dinner was another large family affair with everyone and also another family friend, Gwen. Gwen had something in common with me; she had visited the Outback. It was strange, a good percentage of Australians had never ever ventured into ‘The Red Centre’, as it is also known. They had also never climbed the Harbour Bridge, which I was thinking of ... read more

Woke up at about 8am this morning, which is late for me. Eileen and Vic were both up and dressed, so I thought I’d better get up too. We started the day off, with a long morning walk to Narrabeen beach, which I suppose was about a brisk half-hour walk away. Narrabeen Beach is famous in it’s own right, being the only Australian beach mentioned in the lyrics of a Beach Boys song! On the way back we walked along the picturesque Narrabeen Lakes, and go to the local supermarket. It was to be a nice day today, and it was already very warm and humid. Bryan and Damon came round after lunch and today’s aim was to do the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. We drove southbound through the Harbour Bridge, and started the Eastern Suburb ... read more

The plan for today was to go right into the heart of Sydney. They were telling me that they don’t tend to go into Sydney that much, and having me over was an excuse to get out and about and see what been happening locally. Paula drove Bryan, Damon and myself to Manly, where we walked along the beach front alongside the famous Norfolk pines, and then down Manly Corso. ‘The Corso’ is Manly’s high street, and leads from Manly Cove, with the harbour beach, to Manly Beach, on the ocean side. It is lined with many shops, cafés, pubs and food shops, and is also home to many restaurants, bars and clubs. It is the ‘heart’ of Manly. At the harbour beach end of ‘The Corso’ was ‘The Esplanade’, which was where all the Sydney-bound ... read more

Today I was up bright and early. The sun was again shining, and it was another ideal day to do some driving. The main destinations for today were Manly, North Head and South Head. The suburb of Manly, is on the north side of the harbour entrance (North Head), and it can be reached from Sydney by ferry or hydrofoil, or the much longer road route. Its main tourist attraction is Marineland, a large aquarium featuring shark feeding and other shows. To the north of Manly is a string of popular beach resorts extending up to Palm Beach and Barrenjoey Head, on Broken Bay, the estuary of the Hawkesbury River. Back to the North Head, and Bryan had to park up as we were now in the Sydney Harbour National Park, which had restricted driving access. ... read more
