This past weekend I hung out with the girls. On Friday, we went to the Chinese markets. So Awesome. We ate at a Chinese restaurant where they didn't speak any English we had to point to the menu (pictures) when ordering. It was the best chinese food ever, and I normally hate Chinese food. We had a family meal with corn and chicken soup, rice, cashew chicken, spring rolls and dim sung. MMMMM..... Anyways then I bought a Christian Dior wallet and purse. The purse might be fake but the wallet is for sure real! Dana got Louis V. and Linzy got Burberry. Then on Sat. we went and got our hair cut short (5 inchs!) off mine. and then I died Linzy, Dana's and my hair back at Glen Fairie. That was fun but messy. ... read more

Hello Everyone! It has been an exciting week! On Friday a few of us found Sydney University and explored the beautiful campus. All of the original buildings in Sydney are made out of sandstone and they are amazing. I got a sweatshirt there and then we left. On Friday night we had a Welcome party by the Harbor so there was a beautiful view of the city! On Saturday we went on a group trip to the Blue Mountains. On the way there we stopped at a wildlife park where we were able to pet koalas and kangaroos! I got my picture taken petting a koala too! That was one of the major things I wanted to do so I am glad I got that accomplished! They had all kinds of animals such as Tasmanian Devils, ... read more

This past weekend we had our welcome party, presented by CAPA. It was a fun barbeque down by the water the views were amazing. Then Saturday we went on our full day trip to the Blue Mountains. On the way there we stopped at the Olympic park, which was very nice and big, but deserted. Beau (Capa advisor) said that the Olympic park is rarely used now and it is a good 40 minutes from the center of the city. Our next stop was at a wildlife preserve. That was awesome, we got to pet kangaroos, emus, wallabees and a baby koala. THey were like roaming free and you could go up and feed them. After lunch, we reached the Blue Mountians and got to see the 3 sisters ( a rock) this is a sacred ... read more

Well, we've been travelling for almost eight weeks now and four of those have been in Sydney. It still feels new though, as we spent the first two weeks having Gem's knee fixed in hospital and her recovering afterwards. She's been back for a check-up since then and everything is fine. After Gem left hospital, we checked out Manly, Bondi and Coogee beach to decide where to live. Coogee is a south-eastern suburb, about 4 miles from Sydney city centre and we preferred it straight away. We spent one last weekend with Sharon and Den, went for a meal in Cronulla and then visited the Cronulla Sharks Stadium for a drink and a gamble! The regulars watched in disgust as we put our dollar into the fruit machines and won the link-up jackpot, $60. The ... read more

Yesterday, Kyle, Megan, Linzy, and I went to Taronga zoo. This is Sydney's largest zoo, it is over 69 acres! I was really neat, probably my favorite thing so far. It had a lot of native animals like kangaroos, dingos, wallabees, wombats, meer cats, lots of things you wouldn't necessarily see in a zoo at home. I am going to put pictures on but apparently you can only have 20 pictures total on this site, so I might wait a day. It has been pretty chilly the last week in Sydney, I guess it is winter and everything though. We ahve spent most of the day lounging about, Linzy fell down the stairs at the zoo, so she is pretty banged up and isn't moving very fast! The zoo was so neat because you could get ... read more

well, we made great time after Fraser and shot through down to Sydney as quick as we could manage(not before buying me a DIDGERIDOO!!Poor Jo!) , the most noteable small stop being in a small place called Nimbin, it's famous in Oz for being the weed capital of Australia, and we're not talking dandelions here folks!! you can buy cookies, cakes, whatever you want.....a really strange place!! On arrival in Sydney we had the pleasure of being able to stay with one of Jo's friends, she met him in Canada and still keeps in touch, his name's Gordon, he lives with his folks in a beautiful house in the Sydney suburbs, what a brilliant family, they made us completely welcome, fed and housed us like kings and we ended up staying a bit longer than we ... read more

Today was a beautiful day! It's no summer weather but it is still nice, highs in the 60's in the afternoons. We went to the Taronga zoo which is 69 acres. It is very large and hilly area but it was pretty amazing to see all of the animals. The first thing we got to see were the kangaroos! They were very close to us. The way it is set up is unusual because they can just romp about freely in this large area and anyone can walk through this area. Next were the Koalas which were equally impressive! The whole zoo was impressive though. Well, for the those of you who know how clumsy I am, I took a spill down the stairs while being at the zoo so that was kind of a downer. ... read more

Hello All! I have been in Australia for a week now even though it seems like a day! The scenery here is unbelievable. Pictures are unable to capture how beautiful it actually is, but I will be posting some pictures to keep you all updated on what I am doing so far! Tomorrow I am hoping to go to the zoo. Last weekend I went to the aquarium and it was awesome! I got to see seals, sharks, a crocodile, and fish from the reef! We also went to Manly Beach which was pretty fun. The water is to cold to swim in so I just put my feet in and laid out on the beach. Well I am going to see a movie tonight so I will keep you all updated on what I ... read more
