I wore flip flops outside today for the first time since I have been back in the states. My mood has mimicked Wisconsin springtime weather for the past few months, sunny and warm and then suddenly stormy and frigid. Getting readjusted to the weather and pace of life back home has been some what of a rollercoaster ride. But being as it is sunny and warm outside and I feel much the same way, I figured it would be a good time to update my blog. Stories from School (I wish more than anything I could share the precious pictures of the children and families I work with. However, for the sake of their privacy and my job, I will try to describe their shining smiles and entertaining personalities through words alone.) Me: "Oh, , ... read more

We had a very relaxing and chilled out Easter weekend in Cancún. Unfortunately we missed out on the Easter eggs but we didn’t mind too much as thanks to mama and papa Sweet we stayed in a very swish hotel instead. We stayed at the InterContinental in the hotel zone and had a very fancy room with an awesome seaview, bathroom, hot water, cable t.v., a well stocked mini-bar (not so well stocked when we left!) and A/C. The hotel also had a couple of pools, a gorgeous beach, a few restaurants and a gym. What more could you ask for?!? We used the gym a couple of times and visited the Italian restaurant one night (which was very good!) but we spent most of our time relaxed in front of the t.v. (we hadn´t ... read more

Well this is tuesday @8:15 PM. I have just 3 more days of work at Harris County before my last day. I am excited and scared at the same time. I leave in about one week!! One week!!! I am looking forward to may new journey to Korea. It is finally sinking in that I am leaving. I still have so much to do before I leave. Shutting off the utilities is no big deal, but the packing is what is taking so long. What do I take, what do I put in storage, what do I trash? I have brought my suitcases, my camera, and laptop. Now just to figure out how to use the camera and the laptop. I am very challanged when it comes to using these things. So far I have a ... read more

The first leg of our westward journey took us from Fernandina Beach FL to Ft. Gaines, GA, on the Alabama border. We stayed in a nice campground on the banks of Lake Walter F. George, and played the golf course in the George Bagby State Park. The next stop was Montgomery, AL, where we spent a pleasant evening listening to the tornado warning sirens. Fortunately, no tornadoes came our way, but thunderstorms did knock out the power for several hours in the middle of the night. The third day found us at the Lefleurs Bluff State Park in downtown Jackson, MS, where we overnighted after playing the nearby golf course. Crossing the Mississippi River at Vicksburg, we made our way across Louisiana into Texas, where we stopped for the night at Tyler. Not expecting very ... read more

Julie and I returned this morning from a long weekend / short trip to Chicago. The flights each way were relatively uneventful, as was the Blue Line trip from O'Hare to the stop nearest our airport. Found the Ohio House Motel to be a pretty good deal for the price, especially in the pricey Downtown area. The Ohio House is located in the River North district, and is located within 10 blocks of both the Blue and Red "El" lines. From the red, transfers to Brown and Purple were easy. These are the only four lines we used. Since I'm a huge fan of beer, let me quickly say how wonderful Goose Island-Wrigleyville, Piece Brewpub, and Lewars Inn all are. Goose Island added with Fried Pickels. Piece had some excellent pizza. And Lewars was an excellent ... read more

Pictures!!! North America » United States » Missouri By fugittApril 17th 2007After 35,000 miles (or 56,000 K) I'm back to where I began. Being gone 103 days, that comes out to 340 miles/day. It has been great. Not much more I can say than that. Some of the things I have loved since being home: cereal, mom's chocolate-chocolate chip cookies, biscuits and gravy, Mexican food, American roads, Wal-Mart, and the family. Enjoy the pictures. Okay so I'm still figuring out how this all works but it seems pretty cool so far. Bear with me, I'm still new at the blogging thing. Anyways, I leave for Capernwray Bible School in England in two days. I'm not completely packed but I'm getting there. I'm really excited but also kind of nervous because I'm not too sure what exactly to expect; getting there, staying with relatives, roommates, classes, etc. Thank you all for your love and support in my going away for a couple months. Please pray for me and pray that this will be a valuable chapter of my life and that I would be greatly impacted by all I learn and those I meet. God Bless! Oh and if you would like to write me my address at Capernwray will ... read more

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. I am, therefore, going to let my photos show you this amazing place. It is truly paradise and it was absolutely perfect from the moment we arrived and were handed our first Gumby Slumber to the moment we left and discovered that two bottles of water and a box of nibbles had been left in our car for us. One of the few places that, although it has been ticked off the list, I will return to. ... read more
