So I'm heading in to finals, finally (no pun intended), and am beginning to get excited about leaving. I've begun packing in earnest and looking for places to see, etc., while I am in Dublin and Ireland in general. I'm nervous though, because the exchange rate is killing me...I almost don't want to look at the conversion pages...it's bad. On the upside though, I've gotten my many research papers completed and all my 75 books turned in. Now, if only I could find that Strabo....Anyways, yeah. I'm not taking my laptop with me (converters are really expensive), so I won't be able to update as much as I'd like perhaps, but I will do so nevertheless! Slainte!... read more

Fore! North America » United States » Colorado » Denver By GlamazonJune 10th 2007Paris BoundAnother beautiful day in the Mile-City! This morning, Gary and I - along with his brother, Randy, and mom, Carol - hit the course at The Homestead about three or four miles from our house. It doesn't really get much better than this and, honestly, the pictures don't do the real thing justice. Gary surprised me with a new golf bag at the course - it's pink and sassy! xoxo S... read more

Left Seattle after visiting the Museum of Flight which was pretty cool. I has the original Boeing factory there where William Boeing use to churn out his wooden aircraft at the very beginning. They also have one of the Concordes and the fastest aircraft ever built, the Blackbird. Met the next set of fellow sardines at the hotel on Wed morning for the beginning of the trip. This time an older group with a stack of nations represented - Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Austria, US and Canadian. Again there was a fellow traveller from Brisbane. We headed north west towards the Yoho district followed by Banff and Jasper over the next couple of days. The stops included the usual collection of emerald lakes and snow capped mountains. Went for a Canoe paddle on one ... read more

Well it's 10 minutes before I leave for the airport, so I obviously left this too late. I created this travel blog to keep my friends and family updated on what I've been doing overseas. I should have access to internet fairly regularly, so I'll try to update it as much as possible. I'll also add my itinerary at some point! Looks like my battery is dying too, so I'm really gonna have to run! Goodbye and see you in August!... read more

American Heartland Rout As some of you know, I started blogging on another site back in January with my 1st big trip in the RV. I had heard about travel blog and decided to give it a try. I think this site will be better suited to journal my travels so I expect I’ll close out my other blog and transition to this location. I welcome any feedback from any of you who have followed my blog have any suggestions / comments about either of the locations. Tuesday will be the beginning of my American Heartland Road Trip 2007. I’m supposed to be able to map out my trip so I’ll see if I can add a map showing my basic route. I’ll be heading first to Tulsa, Oklahoma to take in the big festivities there ... read more

Day 17, Sunday 10 June 2007 - LA Sightseeing Well today we had a well deserved sleep in before heading up to the centre of Hollywood and checking out Mann's Chinese Theatre, the Kodak Theatre and part of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where all the stars on the sidewalk are. We also indulged in lunch at Hooters... yes, Hooters. OK, so now I've been to a Hooters and can happily cross it off the list of things to do and hopefully never go back! Food was only mediocre and as for the rest, pretty boring, really! Anyway, we did a couple of tours today, the first being a one hour trolley car tour of some of the sights of LA. These included a trip to see the famous Hollywood sign, which you can't actually ... read more

The weekend had just flown by. All of a sudden, it was Sunday morning and again our hosts provided breakfast at the campground. Soon the motor homes were packed up and on the road heading home or wherever they were going. This time, Jeff and I did not have to leave. We had made plans to stay for a few more days. Being Sunday in Amish country, the sidewalks are pretty much rolled up. We went to the nearby town of Millersburg, to a Wal-Mart, and then returned to the campground to rest and watch a NASCAR race. We just relaxed and had a quiet dinner in the motor home. There were a few horses in a field right behind our motorhome who were curious when a visitor stopped by their fence. ... read more

THE VIEW THROUGH MY WINDSHIELD (Day 1 - 267 miles) I have called this segment “The view through my windshield“ because the majority of the photos were taken with one hand on the wheel and one taking wild aim -- as evidenced by the fly that hitched a ride just after I left Gunnison. I don’t have any photos of the first hour’s drive because I was descending into a canyon and needed both hands on the wheel. Once that was behind me it was a really lovely drive. My first stop was in the little town of Montrose which is very clean and quaint and where I topped up my gas tank. After Montrose the road was two lanes through to Interstate 70. The elevation at Gunnison is 7070’ above sea level, the elevation ... read more

Sunday morning we woke and decided that since we were going to be moving camp sites around noon we would just stick around camp, try to get organized (we are still trying to find places for everything) and just relax until it was time to move. We had Blueberry and Strawberry poptarts for breakfast (the first time, I think, that Little Z had them). They were very fruity and tasty and we found that the little bit that wasn’t eaten made for a good snack when we got back from Throwing Rocks in the Water. Little Z loves to throw rocks in the water (or wah wah as she still calls it. She annunciates a lot of words very well, but water is still wah wah). Daddy and Little Z took a walk to a ... read more
