I'm finally feeling the pressure of going to England next week! =) I bought my textbook today - a book of photocopies for about $70.00 - when I had the book in my hands, this all started to feel so real. I've been DREAMING of this for over a year now. I remember when I first told my mom I wanted to do this - she said that she and my dad would support me in this - THANK YOU MOM & DAD. I've started the packing process - I have two luggages in my room, laying on the floor with open arms ready to catch whatever I throw their way. I'm nervous, excited, scared and happy all at the same time. I have a going away "party" on Friday - invited a couple of friends ... read more

Geo: 51.4262, -116.178Today we spent discovering the delights of the Rockies. We began this morning by going to Lake Louise. This lake is stunningly beautiful. At one end is Mount Victoria with the Victoria glacier evident on its slopes. At the other is a huge resort hotel called Chateau Lake Louise. To stay and visit here we had to buy a pass from the Parks and Wildlife department which covers all this area. There were many people at Lake Louise. We walked from one end of the lake to another. One way took about 40 minutes. We stopped for many photos which I will include in this entry. The walk was fairly easy with few uphill spots. After we walked back we then moved on to Moraine Lake. This is in the Valley of the Ten Peaks. ... read more

After a hard fortnight in Cancun it was time to head to Los Angeles and recover for 8 days.......when I was in Cancun myself and the lads met two Brazilian girls that we hung around with for the last five days of the holiday.....and they both live in LA and offered me the chance to stay at theirs while I was here.........my first two nights were in a hostel in the Venice Beach area of LA......and the two nights were terrible....after the luxury in Mexico I found myself trying to sleep in a twelve bed dorm on the top bunk with no air conditioning.......it was horrible!!! But it was only for a couple of nights till I moved in with Vivi and Flavia.......and they only stayed a short walk from Venice Beach.....so it was all good!! ... read more

Wow. I can see the stories from China are much preferred due to the spike in readership between last night and today! Mark's debut was quite a hit. I knew it would be which is why I urged (begged) him to put some of his stories on virtual paper. I am hoping for more from Mark soon. He's been so busy it's really unbelievable. He's very modest, but I know he's working very hard and is missing his kids (and fabulous wife). It's hard for all of us...anyhoo. I just wanted to let everyone know we got our official acceptance letter to the school. Yay. Another checklist item. Of course, the kids cannot attend without the visas which are still in the works. I think we picked the best school. It had a great vibe, and ... read more

That's "Reporting Live from the Volunteers Living Room" for those non-spanish speakers. The move went really well. We all got here and were told to work it out amongst ourselves as to which room (more like fort) that we wanted. I got a pretty nice sized one with a desk in it which was really quite a score. We basically are in a large room seperated from eachother by lockers and sheets. Don't worry I've taken lots of pictures of everything including my section (not all of them yet, but I'm working on it). Make sure you look at page 2 so you can see the pictures of where I live. And YEAH, thats right MY section. I have officially taken up the post of kinder which are the babies-6 year olds. I love all of ... read more

Between Contracts Part 3 & 4 - Michigan, Vegas, Home Part 3 - Michigan and The Wedding I headed out to Michigan for a few days to visit my sister Emily and my friend Emily, who lived one floor below me in college for two years (we used to spend nights in - she cooked, I did the dishes - and I fostered her obsession with bad prime time tv programming, an addiction that lasted her well past college). I purposely timed my work-break to coincide with my friend Emily’s wedding, since she’s been engaged for as many years as I’ve known her, I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I also enjoy visiting my sister because it provides us both with an excuse to spend all day on the couch watching movies, shopping, and basically ... read more
