We just purchased my plane tickets for Japan. I'm leaving from JFK (don't even get me started on what time I'll have to be at the airport) on August 22nd and through weird time warps (and a gazillion hour stop in Detroit) I'll arrive in Osaka at 18.15. I think the KG people will come and pick me up around 20.00 or sometime thereafter. Hopefully there will be other students en route to Osaka from Detroit, else that's going to be a very long, dull wait. Good thing there's WiFi in all terminals, or so their website says. I'm coming home through more time warps and arriving in New York on the 14th. I was originally going to stay until the 21st, but I wasn't sure if staying that long after exams/classes would be an impedement ... read more

Hello out there, We woke to rain and gloomy skies but now at ten am the sky has opened to allow the sun to shine through. Today is a day of laundry, repacking, making grocery lists, cleaning up our messes and various articles/possessions from throughout the house, cleaning handprints off the windows and filling holes Dot dug in the yard. Tonight we are having a "weenie roast" out in the yard and some smores. A farewell bbq. Today is full of lots of things that need to get done and so I won't say too much here. The girls get out of school for the last time this year at 130 in the afternoon. Dot has her travel certificate appointment at 2pm at the vets office and the girls are at Girl Scouts at 3pm-5pm today ... read more

Nice to talk to you again. It’s now May 12 and we leave for New York on Saturday, the same day as our hosts Doug and Maryvonne leave for a week in Nice and a weeks cycling tour of Corsica. (It’s a pity Michael you will not be there at the same time, you would enjoy their company) Thank you all for your emails but I would like to clarify one thing, it’s not really a holiday. Up at 7 to do 8 or 10 laps at the pool before a vigourous day of walking or touring. Phil described our travels as Art-itecture boot camp, but its really day after day of fun and adventure (and hard work) Doug and Maryvonne have been lovely to be with, so hospitable and so knowledgeable. We took them and ... read more

Hello all! I have a lot to write about since I didn't get a chance to enter a journal in for yesterday. We left off with the saga of stained sock puppet and trash talking terry and their "adult content" happenings. The two of them had quite the hangover yesterday so they didn't come with April and I to lunch at Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville or to the show to see House Of Wax in CityWalk. April and I took the Royal Pacific Resort's free boat shuttle to CityWalk. I sat there thinking.....THIS IS THE LIFE! I don't feel too guilty enjoying these luxuries as April and I are both self professed workaholics. We hadn't been on a real "vacation" since last July (a crime for a travel agent), so taking breaks in the afternoon to explore ... read more

After some issues in what was my current job I had to visit the "Silicon Valley" to attend some business, so this was the opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the states...San franciso. San francisco known for the architecture, for being an artist refuge, chinese inmigrants, and a jewel of the "Gold fever" is an oportunity of have a good time in. For me my first contact was going from fremont (the other side of the bay south oakland) by car, trying to find and cross bay bridge (a impressive structure that cross the bay) and see this curious city, with their beautifull houses, the embematic golden gate bridge, the fog in the bay, the hills is a city that is a must if you're visiting the states, if you're a Jazz ... read more

I have been running around like a mad woman today. This morning I had my final for South American Archaeology. It went ok. I mean, after an hour and a half of writing, you get to the point where you don't care anymore. At 11:30 am, I no longer cared and turned that bitch in! Yeah! Had lunch with Bob today. It was our second goodbye eating event. I love Vietnamese food. Really, I love food in general. Bob leaves for London in less than two weeks! To get ready for our cross-country drive, Ben changed the oil in his pickup tonight. Yeah... The oil drain plug was stripped. He spent quite a bit of time looking for a new one. He finally found one, and finished up. Now we are trying to wash the oil ... read more

Good Morning! Yesterday was another quiet day in sunny Florida. April and I had lots and lots of work to do, so once again it was around 12pm (or was it 1pm) before we left our hotel to have some fun. It was time for lunch, so we decided to go to Pointe! Orlando. This shopping/entertainment complex is pretty cool. There are plenty of shops, a movie theatre, restaurants, nightclubs and a very neat attraction/museum called Wonder Works. Although the area is showing its age just a bit, it is a great stop for people in the area for an afternoon or night of fun. There was a cute restaurant called Lulu's Bait Shack I had always wanted to visit so April and I headed there. It did not disappoint. The outside of the restaurant was ... read more
