June 19, 5:30 AM -- Bellevue Transit Center I originally planned this trip during the depths of the miserable 2014 Spring: cold, wet, cloudy, gray. Greece would be a nice respite. 2015 has brought an historically pleasant Summer and Spring though, which kind of bugs me. This morning is a good one to leave though: cold, wet, cloudy, gray. The bus driver is warning about unusual traffic, likely due to the US Open. Even now, golf finds a way to spite me. The bus is rolling, and it's only a matter of time until I'm in the airport wondering if it's okay to stop dieting. June 19, 7:45 AM -- Tarmac @ Seattle-Tacoma Intl Airport There was an issue checking in. I'll go to my grave never knowing what it was, and why I had to ... read more

I'm leaving tomorrow on a 3 week backpacking trip around the UK and Ireland! I'll try to keep my blogging up whenever I can find some internet which I doubt will be hard. Keep checking back to see what I've been up to - that's one of the best parts of traveling - you never know what to expect! Life's an adventure and I'm loving it. My itinerary: England: London, Bournemouth + surrounding, Cambridge, York Scotland: Edinburgh, Inverness, Fort William, Oban, Glasgow Northern Ireland: Bangor, Belfast Ireland: Dublin, Galway, and...haven't made anymore plans yet. Hopefully Cork County area too! My next blog will be from London after a very long flight. Let's hope they have a good in-flight movie and my seat neighbor stays within his/her armrest boundaries. =) -myia... read more

Hi Everyone Have been very slack at sending new blogs, but here is our last one before we head off home to Australia. After we left Bakersfield California we travelled to Sacramento for 3 nights. We went to the Old Sacramento Railway Museum with all the old steam trains on display, some which we could actually walk through, old dinning cars all set up like they used to be. They have an old steam train that you could ride on for a short trip it was very interesting. The next day one of the old cheifs from the goat locker came by to meet us, went out to lunch with him, talked for awhile then back to our motel. On the 14th we travelled to Grants Pass Or. stayed overnight then onto Portland Or. we were ... read more

I had dinner with a friend tonight who expressed the sentiment that she had been hoping for a follow-up "we're home!" sort of blog, and it got me thinking. Why haven't we written anything else? What is there to say? How do we even begin to describe the feelings of coming back to the US after a year away? We returned to Seattle on Tuesday, July 6th. As of today, we've been 'home' for exactly three weeks, though home is a pretty loose term these days. I'm not even sure what it really means after a year of calling a foreign land home. Most days, it simply feels as though the last eleven months were a dream. It feels surreal. I find myself referring to China stories often, and watch as friends eyes glaze over- not ... read more

Reading over this blog again makes me realize one profound fact: I need to get the FUCK OUT OF HERE and spend as much of my life traveling as I possibly can before I die. God willing, it shall be.... read more

I can't believe the month of June is already over! It's been quite a whirlwind. My last day of work was June 9th and we left on June 10th for a ten day vacation in California with my family. My brother, Neal, graduated with his PhD in Philosophy from University of California Riverside, so it was a nice excuse for the whole fam to spend some quality time together. Martin and I flew to Long Beach that Wednesday, followed by my parents (returning from a month long trip to Europe) and then Debi & the kids Thursday night and finally Ben on Saturday. We stayed in Palm Springs at my parents Worldmark timeshare for a week, just generally enjoying family time at the pool and around the kitchen table. It'd been a long time since the ... read more
