There's a scene in the movie Forest Gump when Forest is running along a lonely highway and then suddenly he stops, turns around and says, "I'm kinda tired, I think I'll go home." That's kind of what happened to me...somewhere in Bulgaria. I couldn't tell you where I was exactly, I was following signs rather than using a map, I only know I was headed for Thessaloniki, Greece when the overwhelming urge to go home just hit me. My pedaling slowed and I just stopped along the road and stood there looking out over the empty countryside. I was homesick, though why exactly I couldn't say; I can't even remember the last time I was homesick, but suddenly I missed the familiarity of English speaking people, I missed how much easier it is to do EVERYTHING ... read more

We stayed overnight in Salt Lake City....the next morning we drove over to the Spiral Jetty off of the great Salt Lake. We took backroads to get there, it prob took an hour to go about 3 miles b/c of all of the rocks. It was worth it....the water was so pink! We walked out on the jetty...the salt was so crunchy...we took some back in a baggie ;). This is one of those places that my words can't do justice to, so I am going to post a lot of pics. ... read more

Hey guys/gals.. Currently in our final day at Utah in a place called Lake Powell... Heres an update on the last few days and I am also pleased to see that my older blogs have been put back up - well done travelblog! So yeah anyway on the 6th and 7th we were in Moab in Utah. We were staying at an awesome campsite with a nice field (despite some thorns which hurt when you dive on them!) so we played some ball there in early afternoon when we pitched up. In the afternoon we went for a swim in the COlorado river at a secluded spot- the water was sooo refreshing in the hot Utah sun! It was also nice to leave behind the rain that had plagued us in Colorado the previous 2 days. ... read more

hi everyone, eventually got to Salt Lake City, almost 3 hours late!! Patience really is wearing thin with this Greyhound thing!! I was sleeping on the bus and all of a sudden a tyre blew and we were skidding all over the place. The driver came to a stop at the side of the interstate and everyone cheered him for stopping safely. It was the front tyre that blew. We were in the middle of Wyoming and not a house nor cow for miles around as you can see from the pics. So we had to wait till someone came to our rescue. The driver phoned Dallas, Texas to see what his options were and they told him not to let anyone off the bus under any circumstances because we were on the interstate. The ... read more

Day 11- Today was a fairly boring day. Most of the day we drove from Grand Tetons to Salt Lake City where we stayed for the night. After we arrived at the campground. We went searching for a Target, a movie theater, and a place to eat. We found a movie theater and a went in to get some tickets for the new Harry Potter movie. After getting the tickets to the 8:50 showing of Harry Potter we went to Red Robin. After eating we stoped at Target and then headed back to the movie theater. We got back at our campground around 11:30. --Ben We learned that a 10% grade is really a lot more severe then 6% grade - atleast to an RV (the Teton pass from Wyoming to Idaho). Idaho was a ... read more

Well again the Marquet's are on vacation........first night was spenat in Osoyoos BC which was very nice....Next day we wanted to make it to Fernie BC but made Creston and the transmission stuck into a default gear, we managed to make it to Cranbrook. There is an allison transmission shop there, they tested our transmission and found a bad celaniod....SO next day they install the part and the transmission still isn't working......To save tons of details we decide to go to CAgary or Great Falls Montana where there is a workhorse dealership that can test the whole coach out. Turns out it is the transmission, which they can't seem to locate in the northern hemisphere. Can you say UHAUL?....3KIDS.....LITTLE JEEP....105 F....... off we go to Yellowstone and leave our coach in Great FAlls so they can ... read more

This will be a day (at least) late since there’s no wireless internet at the Motel 6 just north of Salt Lake City (why did I assume there would be?!) but we did make it to our Utah destination within 30 minutes of the planned arrival time. The time spent on the AAA website paid off as the driving today went very smoothly. The 75 MPH speed limit for more than half the trip helped a bit. I don’t even feel exhausted! Ethan and I only slept for about 5 hours last night - and neither of us took any naps today. Mom, on the other hand, had 10 hours of sleep last night and took 4 naps during our drive today. It was hilarious to watch Ethan each time she slept, watching her for ... read more

We left Pocatello this morning and drove a couple hours into Salt Lake City. Visited Temple Square which is two City blocks of Mormon buildings and gardens. It wasn't too busy and the weather was perfect for walking around. The whole area is beautiful and extremely well kept. The buildings feature a large amount of stone sculptures and a number of statues are spread around the square. There were quite a few weddings going on at the temple but they wouldn't let us in???? So we went over to the Tabernacle and listened to the pipe organ recital. The acoustics in the Tabernacle are amazing. It is a large egg shaped dome and you could literally hear a pin drop from one end to another (over 50m) The organist did a demonstration where she dropped ... read more
