Bad start to the holiday ... chased by a T-Rex We left Pocatello this morning and drove a couple hours into Salt Lake City. Visited Temple Square which is two City blocks of Mormon buildings and gardens. It wasn't too busy and the weather was perfect for walking around. The whole area is beautiful and extremely well kept. The buildings feature a large amount of stone sculptures and a number of statues are spread around the square. There were quite a few weddings going on at the temple but they wouldn't let us in???? So we went over to the Tabernacle and listened to the pipe organ recital. The acoustics in the Tabernacle are amazing. It is a large egg shaped dome and you could literally hear a pin drop from one end to another (over 50m) The organist did a demonstration where she dropped three pins on a table and you could hear it very clearly and when she dropped a nail it sounded more like a hammer. The nicest thing about Temple Square is that it didn't cost us a Penny, no entrance fees, no souvenirs ( Noah didn't want the Joseph Smith action figure) and even the parking was free at the Zion Center Mall, unfortunately I

Painted Bison had to give up beer and Elder Justin is going to Uzbekistan for a year. I can see why the Mormons moved here, it's a dry, scrubby, brown place surrounded by mountains where no one was going to bother them.
After a quick lunch we drove another couple hours to get to Richfield, Utah and will head off tomorrow to the Grand Canyon.
