Hey everyone! This blog is long overdue! Ape and I have been home since June 26th! We flew back from Austin, TX. It was a peaceful, 3 1/2 hour smooth flight via Jet Blue (the best airline in the world)!!! Anyway, where do I begin? Hmm.... Oh my....Texas....Texas....Texas....Texaaaaaaaaaas. Yee-ha-yikes. When you are in Amarillo you don't really feel like you are IN TEXAS. Sure, the drive through the panhandle makes you feel like you should be in farmer jeans chewing wheat, but to actually BE in Amarillo you kinda feel like you are at some no-name city with lots of chain restaurants. No, to TRULY experience Texas you have to be DEEP IN THE HEART of it. Oh yes my friends....oh yes. You have to drive I-287 south toward Austin. You have to drive by small ... read more

Sometime you know what kind of day you are going to have when you turn on your GPS device and it says in .8 miles take a right and then go 297 miles and take another right in Albuquerque. So we begin our day in Amarillo. Jacquelyn got some major kite flying time last night after the best Mexican dinner we have ever eaten (Abuelos if anyone is ever in town). They have wind here like this Eastern born family doesn’t know and she had an absolute blast. Ed worked through day but we wanted to get to do something more involved before we left the city so we traveled to Palo Duro Canyon (the largest canyon in TX). It was a beautiful day and as we traveled the 75 mile/hr speed limit on the two ... read more

Well, we made it back from our incredible Fund For Teachers trip to Europe. It was quite an adventure! After visiting 8 cities and 6 European space agencies, we are slightly exhausted (okay, REALLY exhausted) but the trip was more rewarding than we could have ever imagined. The cultures we experienced from city to city throughout Europe really opened our eyes and broadened our perspective. The space agencies, although not all as interested in our program and endeavors as others, were informative and hold the potential for some great partnerships and possibilities for expanding our student space program. We can’t wait to get back to school and share our experiences with our colleagues and our students. Au revoir! ... read more

After a 7 hour night flight from Heathrow to JFK - NY, with continous sunshine, and me trying to sleep on the 3 seats I had.. jammie... I suddenly saw a pink, red and orange band connecting the horizon with the end of the earth. I looked down and saw New York as we flew round to land. It was everything I never expected it to be. Lots of water with pockets of land and then there below me I saw Manhatten Island and the skyline that is so familiar. The city looked so peaceful from the air with its lights twinkling, and I thought everything looks so much better in the dark as it marks the character of people's conceptions of New York. We landed and waited at the airport for about 2 hours before ... read more

Kate here... I'm sitting in the corner of a Starbucks in Amarillo, using their wi-fi, because some of the 5000 different cords for our various gadgets are in a state of limbo somewhere in the car. And I seem to have started some bruhaha about using Treos to get online with a laptop. Sorry about that. I had no idea it was an issue, and just had a couple of technical questions :( So I looks like we'll be blogging text from the Treo on the road, and posting pictures how/when we can. Like now. I'm going to dump all of the pictures from the past few days in this post, and then try and go back and edit in the text with the phone on the road. Kate here again...
