This is one travelling tale I will never forget. Days before this trip to Dallas, I phoned a transport service company to pick me up from my boss' house (which is on top of a hill) in San Bernardino to the LA Airport aka LAX. I had to pay around 80 bucks, if I remember it right. So, at around 10pm, the service van picked up from San Bernardino. I brought with me my huge luggage because I figured I have a lot of clothes to bring since I will be staying there for a few days during the Christmas holiday. I feel like already going home to Manila. It felt funny! Now you ask, why didn't I just ask my boss to drive me to the airport? Well, I simply did not want to ... read more

Greyhound Bus. Low budget travelling at its very worst. All across America in cold, uncomfortable buses. People who can’t afford going by plane or train. Or people who enjoy the ride on the roads. Or people who want to experience the adventure. The bus between San Antonio and Houston is packed, as usual with about 90% African-Americans. Doesn’t bother the 300 pound white man with the large cowboy hat. Has ”White Power” and a swastika tattooed on his neck, fully visible. Takes the isle seat next to a young black man. The cute couple don’t exchange any words, but trouble seems far away. A penny for the young man's thoughts at that point...Maybe he's thinking "This man disapproves of my very existence. Should I prove him wrong? Should I start a scene? Should I move? Should ... read more

In 1996 we had visited Bob's sister Sue in Florida. In 1997 we wanted to visit Bob's other sister Judy and her family in Katy, Texas. Bob's youngest sister, Carol, and her family were living in Bangkok, Thailand, so that trip would have to wait for ten years. We decided to take the scenic routes for the most part, stopping along the way to visit friends and national parks and other historical and cultural attractions. 28 June 1997 Saturday. We headed west from Falls Church on I-66 and then south on I-81. Our first diversion was the Skyline drive and its extension the Blue Ridge Parkway, which we followed almost the full length to the North Carolina border. It was slow, but very scenic. We stayed the night at Johnson City, Tennessee. 29 June 1997 Sunday. ... read more

Amy is going home to see her family. She is curious about Sweden, even though she has no clue about its whereabouts. Central America maybe? Doesn’t matter...The meal includes a small dessert. I consume the dessert before the meal. She asks if that is a custom in Sweden. No, it’s just me. Whatever. ”Houston, we have a problem”. Houston is down there when I ask her if we’re going down. Amy gives me a very strange look. She finally tells me that ”We’re landing! We’re not going down.”. English 101. ... read more

February 1992. My father was transferred again. This time to Houston, TX. I remember being extremely happy when I was told about, and come to think about it, I don't think I'd ever heard of Houston before, so I was probably just excited about the going to a new place. When we arrived, we stayed at a hotel for a couple of weeks, maybe a month. I don't really remember. It was close to the famous Galleria Mall. After Kristi Yamaguchi won in the 1992 Olympics, she went to Houston for a free show at the Galleria's ice skating rink. My dad took me to see her, but I only got a glimpse of her because there were thousands of people there, so to make it up to me, my dad took me bike shopping that ... read more

Geo: 32.778, -96.7956I had just turned 19 years old a few days prior, I was carrying a blue floral bag (and checked a suitcase), I was wearing swingy-shorts (Pretty Woman style that was in at the time) and ballet flats. I flew from Springfield, Missouri to Dallas, Texas (and then on to Sacramento, CA) on American Airlines. I was alone. I loved every minute. I had a fantastic time flying and knew travel was in my blood.... read more
