I just wanted to post a quick update: The court threw out my ticket yesterday! Apparently, the policemen in TN require insurance coverage for the SPECIFIC VEHICLE the person is driving, whereas the court does not care. For example, my insurance covers me in any car I may be driving, but if I were to be pulled over by a cop in another vehicle, they would give me a ticket which would be immediately dismissed by the courts. It's a big hole in the system, and such a hassle! However, the main thing is that the ticket was dismissed. I have a couple of job interviews over the next couple of days in the Knoxville area. Tony has been busy planning our garden, and we bought lots of seeds to begin planting. Tony's mom has agreed ... read more

We safely arrived in Knoxville yesterday after getting up very early in the morning on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, we had a car accident after unloading it from the truck. I was pulling in behind Tony at the storage place, and as I was about to turn in, the car behind me ran right into my bumper while I was just sitting still. What a bummer, to have made it all this way, and at the last minute get into an accident! The police came, and helped us to sort it out. However, my insurance card had the wrong VIN number on it for the car (thanks a lot, State Farm!), so now I have to go to court and prove that I was covered at the time of the accident. The policeman gave me a court ... read more

Very few people will ever get the opportunity to lead an absolutely brilliant team of people who inspire them to excel and feed the fire and passion to do good things. I am one of those lucky few. During my 26+ years of active duty in the United States Air Force, I had the privilege of leading some really amazing teams. I also had the honor of working for some truly incredible leaders who took the time to teach me how to lead. I often say it publically that I have had the greatest team of professionals I have ever had the pleasure of working with. This team is the entire staff of the Marketing and Media Branch of Combat Support Associates (CSA, Ltd.) This public tribute is to you—My team Now that Lynne and ... read more

Ciao. The adventure continues. In two weeks, we leave for Italy. Will Moose and Squirrel maintain their witty banter during travel in a non-english speaking country? Will there be camping? Okay I can go ahead and answer the second question, with an emphatic "no." Will there be wwoofing? The answer to this question is "yes." Yet your next question may be "what the heck is wwoofing?". Well, since we like audience participation, lets make this into a multiple answer question. First one who responds correctly or answers with something we find funny, wins. What do you win? Well, that remains to be seen, but I'm sure it will be fun or great. Or great fun. Or something. Here are your options: 1) "we want organic food", 2)"witty workers only offer forthrightness", 3)"willing workers on organic farms", ... read more

We were in Knoxville, TN the last two nights. Tuesday morning we hit the venue around 8. It was hard to find, and as we were looking, Kyle parked the big truck in front of a building that the GPS said was the destination. We came up behind him and there were several people asking him questions. Turns out it was the back of the courthouse. When we got there, the U.S. Marshall had Kyle’s license in his hand. Now, Kyle and Rachel were in the truck. And he as dark hair and dark eyes and a full, thick beard that several people refer to as Al Qaeda. And Rachel is of Indian descent. “I am a U.S. Marshall. You cannot park your truck here. This is a courthouse.” Over and over, that’s all he said. ... read more

As I get to know the kids, both through watching them and being with them on occasion, I will try to fill you in on who they are. I took some pictures of them in the show tonight. Martin is one of the smallest kids. He is so funny! His eyes are so big, and he has so much energy. He reminds me of Trystan Brown, just how he plays and runs and dances- everything with gusto. He has a few speaking parts and totally works the audience. Rita is one of the older kids, I gather. At least biggest. She has so much energy on stage. The last number of the main set is the courtship dance, and she is the lead dancer and singer. Man she works the crowd! They get clapping and all ... read more

Ok, so all we really got to eat was the bbq, but even that's not bad. Sunday morning we flew out of Tampa, had a quick layover in Atlanta, then got picked up in Knoxville by my grandparents. On one of the flights I made the asinine move of leaving my cell phone in the seat as we left the plane, not realizing it until we were eating lunch in TN of course... After lunch we went and met my aunt/uncle/cousins in downtown Knoxville and explored the 1982 World's Fair site and the Sunsphere before heading over to a church for dinner and Trish got her first sampling of bbq pork. We then secured a spot outside the church to watch the nights fireworks show, attending by over 350,000 people. It was an incredible show that ... read more
