So this is my attempt at an entry to my travel blog. I leave Atlanta at around 5pm on November 6th, have a layover in Houston for about 3 hours, and then finally arrive in Buenos Aires November 7 at around 11am I think. I've got reservations at a hostel in Palermo for 5 days, and after that I'll have to figure it out. The plan is to find an immersion school to study at for at least a month, if not two. I'll also spend those first five days figuring out my accomidations for the next month or two. Do I want an apartment, should I go with something through the school, can I find room somewhere, etc... At least the last month will be spent travelling around Argentina and/or other South American countries. ... read more

Of course, it's down to the last minute. I have 14 hours until my friend arrives to take me to the airport to embark on a three-week adventure that will take me from Beijing to the Lijiang environs to the Yangshuo area and then back to Beijing to start a "real" tour of another three weeks. I'll be in transit for the next two days, so see you from the Jade Youth Hostel later. (I hope they don't have an age limit on "youth.")... read more

Two years and 1 month into our time in Knoxville, TN and I experienced a culture shock like no other. After all, how could we ever say we lived in Knoxville, and had never been to a Vols game? It was pretty amazing! A little bit of background: The Vols are the University of Tennessee Volunteers. volunteers, because we are in the volunteer state; volunteer state, because TN volunteered more people than any other for a war... led by Davey Crockett In this case, the NCAA Division I football team. And in case you can't tell from the photos, the official colors are orange and white. Famous Vol in the NFL - Peyton Manning with the Indianapolis Colts. VOL on the Stampeders: Jermaine Copeland. They are ranked 11th this year so far. VOLS 31 Air Force ... read more

Well if might be an understatement to say that this last blog is long overdue. Last time I updated was.. well a long time ago. I think about a month before I left Japan. And now it's a little over a month since I've been home (yes for those of you who don't know yet. I'm no longer in Japan, but if you didnt know you should have). My last days in Japan were crazy to say the least. I did take my trip to Tokyo and we did hitchhike. It was wild and I had a great time there. After that I finished up my schoolwork, went out a lot with friends, said my goodbyes, and managed to get to my gate at KIX as they were boarding (I'm not only home but lucky to ... read more

One of the most stressful, yet exciting things to do in one's life is to buy a house. After 5+ years of moving and turmoil and adventures, Daren and I have decided to settle down for awhile, and took possession of our first house on Friday! This is probably going to be the nicest house we will ever have - because I'm not sure we could afford this much space in any other city we hope to live in! Yes, this does mean we are planning to stick around Tennessee for awhile. For once both of us are enjoying the challenges and opportunities presented to us professionally and neither of us really wants to see snow regularly for awhile. We would love to have visitors though, so if you are coming through Tennessee, nuestra casa es ... read more

This is my page about KnoxvilleI lived in Knoxville for about two years. I moved there because I was offered a job at the University of Tennessee which is a flagship University, the largest in the state. Knoxville is a wonderful city situated on an international waterway. It is located just outside Great Smoky Mountains National Park and is home to the University of Tennessee Volunteer football and basketball teams. There is lots to do in Knoxville. First and foremost, the seasons are incredible and it is a very tempered area, which means that it is never too cold in the winter and the summer, although hot, is very tolerable. The spring brings blooming at the beginning of March, just in time for the famousDog Wood Festivalwhich happens in April. I live in one of the ... read more
