Went to Government Camp to visit Mt. Hood Visitor Center to collect brochures and tour museum. Had some time before going to the airport to pick up Marcus and Faith so we drove up to Timberline Lodge, known as the people's lodge. All of the wood was hand hewn by public workers into a monumental masterpiece and dedicated by FDR in 1937. Went to find Trillium Lake but was no parking available. It was Saturday and very crowded. Marcus and Faiths flight was delayled and will not be arriving until tomorrow afternoon. Day 38 Found the deal of the trip.....breakfast for $4.00. I mean eggs, pancakes, homefries, and choice of bacon or ham. This was at Zigzag Mountain Cafe, you guessed it, in Zigzag, Or. Faith and Marcus finally made it after lunch. After dropping their ... read more

Two weeks, prior to the event a family friend asked if I would like to walk in the relay race as one member had to step down. I contemplated it for a short while and responded "Yes". I then attended our team meeting where I would find out that I was walking two of the twenty four sections of the relay race. We would be camping overnight along the route and the finish line was in Seaside. I knew this family friend had walked the event in the past and about half of the twelve member team was doing this walk for the 1st time. I saw this event as a great motivator to get me back into working out on a regular basis, do something I enjoyed before Motherhood and it would be fun to ... read more

We take off today on The Three Capes Scenic Drive for Cape Kawanda, Cape Lookout, and Cape Meares. Visited the Meares Lighthouse where we walked a short trail to see the Octupus Tree. Visited Sand Lake which is sand until high tide. Met a couple from Portland that told us about some places we might want to visit in that area.Of course they said we had to do Mt. Hood which we already had planned, but they recommended the Mt. Adams area and White Salmon River which we visited both of them.... read more

After 31 days on the road it is time to take care of some housecleaning and laundry. Work is done so we head out to Road's End in search of possible whales. No luck. We watched some wind surfers and returned to Devil's Lake RV for the evening.... read more

It's hard to believe it is August. Here in Oregon we've been bundled up. The days are around 65 degrees and the nights are cool. We must say it is a change from the 90 degree temperatures most of the country has seen. We stopped at an Encore park in Mt. Hood on our trip to the coast. Tom wanted to see the Timberline Lodge, built during Roosevelt's presidency. At 12,000' elevation, needless to say it was a challenge for Tom. Just driving up the mountain was iffy. Fortunately we could park right in front of the lodge and take an elevator inside. From there we went to the Monaco factory (now Allied Recreation) near Eugene, Oregon. The outside seam on the coach was repaired, along with some other "non-warranty" work. They did great work. Time ... read more

Sinon ... read more

North America » United States » Oregon » Coos Bay August 22nd 2014

Nous sommes d'abord revenus ... read more

North America » United States » Oregon » Crater Lake August 21st 2014

Head south to see the Rogue River Gorge. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable walk along the river. Our next stop is The Natural Bridge trail. Another easy walk along the Rogue to see a bridge formed by a lava run later to become a natural lava rock tunnel that the water runs under for about 20 FT. Headed back to Crater Lake to complete the rim drive around the West Rim. If ever here be sure to watch the 22 minute movie at Steel Visitor Center. We searched for wildflowers on the Castle Crest Trail but as seen on photos we missed the blooming season. We stopped at a couple of overlooks on our way back to camp. After dinner we drove back to Crater Lake for star gazing. By 10:00 PM nothing breathtaking ... read more

North America » United States » Oregon » Florence August 19th 2014
