it's jen again... amy and brad woke up friday morning in oregon at valley of the rogue state park. shocking, it was raining!! they hit the road to head the remaining few hours up to portland to visit their favorite person in the whole world (me). after landing at rush hour, we showered up and hit the town, well the suburbs, actually. there was a snowboard photography show at a shop we checked out, then met up with friends for dinner. unfortunately, it was at the most so.cal shopping center in oregon, so we used up a gift certificate and ate at pf changs. ew. then we went downtown and met up with more friends at rotture. saturday morning we walked from my house to breakfast (in the rain) at the little red bicycle cafe. then ... read more

Portland!!!!!!!!!!! In the green state of Oregon. Once again another long greyhound ride to get here, though got there without incident. This place was cold!!!!!!!!! I had to put my jumper on for this place, first time in a couple of months lol. I trek my way up to the hostel, on long straight road uphill which I eventually found and checked in. I was informed when I arrived though that a party high school students were checking in that day and would be in my room and using the facilites in the area my dorm was in, I take a rest and these high schoolers show up....they are german!!!!! Last Wednesday at the ungodly hour of 6:30am (unsure how god relates to a time of day), I flew out to Portland, Oregon as part of the UofM student chapter of the Society of American Foresters! It sounds pretty professional, and indeed, it was a conference held at the Oregon Convention Center. Our group stayed at the illustrious INN at the Convention Center, which was conveniently practically at the convention center. I attended 11 seminars, most of which focused on ecology, and more specifically, fire. They were very interesting and educational except for one, which didn't seem to belong. I toured the city and found a park with a vista, which provided a beautiful shot of the city, and tall trees. We had a dinner with U alumni. We ate out and felt full, and then ... read more

Today is Wednesday September 19th and I leave for Italy on September 20th at 7AM. Here is our Itinerary: Portland to Milan 9/20 Arrival in Milan, stay overnight 9/21 9/22, 9/23 we will be in Levanto which is in Cinque Terre 9/24 we will leave and head to Genoa where we will pick up our rental car and drive to Asti. We will be in Asti 9/24, 9/25, 9/26 On 9/27 we will leave for Venice where we will stay until 9/29 On 9/29 we leave for Florence where we will meet up with the group (10 of us) We are staying in a beautiful villa outside of Rufina. We are getting close to the end. . . or the beginning! The plan is to leave as close to Oct. 1st as possible, but with only 2 weeks left to go that is still up the in the air.
