Today on our cross country trip around the U.S.A. we stopped by to pep at the obama rally in raleigh (haha theyre like homophones lol) anyways... it was really fun. my dad gave campaign money so we got in and I got an awesome t-shirt with his face that says One Hope. Obama. and a peace sign button with obama/biden under it. sorry if u like mccain, but im LOVEEEEE OBAMA! GOBAMA 2008! We stopped at a quaint Pilgrim looking pub with Thanskgiving treats that they might've had at the time the Pilgrims came in. It had a relaxing pool and a small hottub and the eggs ... read more

We arose early with expectations of a short drive to San Fran to return the rental car and board our flight to Raleigh-Durham.Theyanks pronounce Raleigh different to us and they have ifficulty understanding where we are heading for.So we thought we better change but it is a bit tricky when you are used to speaking in a certain way. We were one of the first down for breakfast and I am pleased to say that waffles were back on the menu again, yippee.Gretchen managaed to burn the one side of her toast that toasted.Somehow the toaster element was only working on one side. The smoke sent the front desk man running to open the front doors and let the smoke out.!!! We had successfully got ourselves back to one suitcase and backpack each which was amazing cos when ... read more

I truly cant believe it is already here. Sometimes I think it seems weird that just a few months ago I was goggling " Jane Austen Internships" and ASE popped up. Who would have know that now I would be leaving for the semester. Packing has been such a headache. I have packed and repacked my stuff at least 5 times and finally gave up on trying to make one of my bags under 50lb. O well I think I rather be warm in England. I am leaving tomorrow at 6PM and still feel like I have a million things to do. I never really believed I had the courage to go abroad but we will see how everything goes Next time I write will most likely be when I am in ENGLAND!!! BYE YALL!! ... read more

Well I'm back. I've spent the last few days slowly uploading pictures and videos to all the post. If you've been following along my journey please take a few moments to check out the previous posts as now relevant pictures are scattered about each posting. Click on the picture if you want to see it enlarged. Any videos are at displayed at the top of the entry. Most videos were taken in the second half of my trip though. Actually, I do have a final story about my trip too. The last afternoon in Bangkok I walked around looking for possible presents to give to family and friends. At one shop I found some shirts I thought would be nice gifts then bartered for a somewhat decent price for them. Between finding the right shirts and ... read more

A fair warning: this entry is going to be long and picture heavy. :P I talked with Felix a little bit today about guidelines with regards to relationships, and how religions and other personal morals govern them. This not only includes married couples or couples in general, but also the relationships we have with our friends, our families, and people that we meet on the streets in everyday interactions. We each have our own personal morals by which we live; we each have standards on how our life should play out, and we each have our own different ways on how to achieve goals. Religion, other people, whatever outside influences that aren't our own thoughts are really just guidelines: it's up to us to make our own decisions in the end and live life without regrets. ... read more

Tonight I start my blog journal thing. As is often the case, there is all sorts of things going on in the Abernethy household. Mom is talking on the phone. Dad is skimming internet articles. Phillip is off hanging out with friends. And I am beginning an internet blog tonight. So there's plenty going on. I'm going to try and figure out how to keep a regular journal entry and share from my heart what's going on in my life. I think this is especially important as I am going to Oxford, England for a semester. Hopefully I can keep all of my friends from ACU and NC up to date with what i'm up abroad and share what God is teaching me while abroad. Hope you enjoy it.... read more
