Jon and me went up to NYC for a 5 days to check out the big apple. It was an amazing city, nothing like i had ever seen before. We stayed in Manahattan a couple blocks from time square which turned out to be a great location, did not have to travel much to get to the sites. We went to a Yankees game while there which was good. About 3 months earlier we bought tickets to the US open that was in NYC while we were there, we had tickets to the finals. And it turned out to be the hottest ticket item in NYC that weekend when Agassi ended up in the final against Federer. That was one of the coolest parts of trip being at that event. Hehe! The excitement is growing. Graham and I have been doing our last minute New York things before our big departure. I guess it hasn't been very real up until this point -- but we've been planning this trip for what, a year and a half now. Its been such a big part of our lives that I guess I never thought of it as this big event. But now its almost here and there are like a million things to do because we only have 5 more days in the City. We've been hanging out with our friends a lot, saying goodbye to people. הי, הארוע המרגש ביותר בזמן שהותי בניו יורק היה, ללא ספק, ביקורי ההיסטורי בבית כנסת. הפעם האחרונה היתה עלייתו למצוות של אחייני הפעוט יואב, כיום בן 25, פלוס מינוס אז צאו וחשבו... אחייני הבכור יובל, אשר אצלו התארחתי, מנגן בפסנתר באותו בית כנסת. הוא אחד מרביעיית נגנים אשר מלווה את התפילה / דרשה באותו בית כנסת. service כאן זה נקרא למותר לציין שזהו בית כנסת רפורמי. white planes בית הכנסת ממוקם מעט צפונית לעיר ניו יורק, במקום שנקרא ואכן, זהו אזור מאד לבן ומאד עשיר. בית הכנסת עצמו ממוקם ביער, מיקום מאד פסטורלי ושקט. את התפילה מנהלת ביד רמה הרבנית, כבת 50, חבושה בכיפה, פצצה לא קטנה, בעלת זוג רגליים שלא היה מבייש גם צעירות ממנה. רפורמי = פמיניסטי. ואולי זו אחת הסיבות לכך שהאולם היה מלא. התפילה מורכבת מערב רב של קטעים ממקורות שונים, הגדה ... read more
