Day 18 - Virginia Beach to Jersey City It's a long drive from Virginia Beach to Jersey City and we had hoped to start out with some historical sites just north of Atlantic Ave. We found out, however, that they are within the boundaries of a military base, and Tony impressed the guard at the gate with the excellent turning radius of our rig. On our way we went over/through the Cheasepeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. It was considered one of the greatest feats of engineering in the 1970's when it was designed and built. It has 4 man-made island that are connected by 2 tunnels and 3 bridges to span the Cheasepeake Bay. Tony has been excited about this bridge since he first started planning the trip. We stopped at the viewing platform (and restaurant) on the ... read more

After watching the show i figured it was time to head to the Jersey shore and see all the tanned guidos fist pumping myself. Funny enough, my hotel was literally down to road from the Jersey shore house, where all the shenanigans went on in the show. The boardwalk along the beach was full of stalls, games, food and fun park rides... oh and not to mention the 'Shore store" where all the guys worked on the show... full of really over priced shirts saluting the guidos and the Jersey shore. The holiday season just finished so most people had gone home, but there were still many people out, and it was great to do abit of guido spotting along the boardwalk. When night time came. aka; t-shirt time, we donned our t-shirts and headed out ... read more

The weather was great, but when we stopped we could feel the heat. The breeze made it easier. After exploring the south shore of Long Island Sound, we then crossed to the north to Mystic in Connecticut, where we spent 3 days. Our last stop in Long Island was Huntington Bay with ... read more

Elle ... read more

“That guy's being awfully forward with that donkey.”- Clerks 2 So, I obviously have nothing better to do with my time, right? I can hear people saying that… casual readers who only put down their travelling guitar to type up their blogs. I can hear them now. ‘This kid, this Aussie- yeah (!), he’s in one of the biggest cities in the world, New York … and what does he do? He buggers off to New Jersey to check out some potty mouthed movie sites?’ Two words, sir. Fuck.yeah. Oh and whilst I’m here, one more. ‘Snoogins.’ That’s right kids, I went to Kevin Smith land! It was an early start and Jian was dead tired that day after our Washington detour, so I woke, showered, tied up my cons and took off for Red Bank, ... read more

Yep, it sure is. Crikey, never seen so many buildings competing to scrape the sky either. But I reckon that most of the people who read these words actually know more about New York than I do, so I'm not going to bother preaching to the converted among you, and if you haven't been here, then all you have to do is look around this travelblog site, there's bound to be several entries by people who will be writing about all the things that you ought to write about. Getting here wasn't the best, what with the debacle at Heathrow, yet another connecting flight back to Frankfurt, then being stowed in Lufthansa cattle class for 8 hours, knees around my ears (Lindo certainly has an advantage here). The movie was a rom-com called 27 Dresses, and ... read more
