... read more

Surprise!!!! I flew home last Saturday for a week and it was marvelous! Got into Philly around 10pm and by the time I got home I was still awake so I stayed up for a bit on the computer and talking to Emily, which was very nice. Sunday morning we headed down to Cape May! It was so nice seeing so much green as we drove down. I hadn't realized quite how much I missed woods until I saw them again. :) Also, I love Jersey and how every 2 feet practically there are local produce stands along the side of the road. Wonderful. I went with dad, we arrived a little after 2pm but couldn't check in yet. So I wandered. Went and got some scratch lottery tickets (I love that I lived in vegas ... read more

I’ve been to over 40 countries, traveled to far off places, drank beer at Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, hiked up a Glacier in Iceland, touched the Berlin Wall, gazed over the Grand Canyon, rafted a number 4 river in Costa Rica, visited the salt mines in Krakow, Poland but today I’d like to tell you about Cape May, New Jersey. Cape May? NJ? Who? What? Yes Cape May! Being a lifelong resident of the Garden State I never even thought of a trip to the Cape. I heard of it. Knew about it but never even thought of a going there. That ever so long ride down the Garden State Parkway. The traffic and the tolls! Too much for this guy. Recently I did make my way south to Cape May and I was pleasantly surprised. ... read more

The electrician from Hinckly arrived at Cape May around 8:30 am, fixed the satellite and left around 8:40 am. Minor wiring issue that took literally 10 minutes to fix. We waited for the MANN guy Lloyd to arrive to check on the engines but instead he called around 2:00 to tell us he would meet us in Annopolis tomorrow. A WHOLE DAY WASTED! The upside is that Walt's uncle Peter lives in Annapolis and this gives us an excuse to see his family! Peter is a boat builder to say the least. He built the ship for the movie "Amistad", "Master and Commander", he built a replica of the "Pride of Balitomre", "Lady Maryland", "Constellation", and others, as well as designing his own ships. On approaching Annapolis (about a 3.5 hour trip) we noticed a ton ... read more

Drove down to Cape May with the wife and the monkey in tow. Also the in-laws came along as we got the same room as last year and had decided to stay the whole weekend instead of just overnight. This way we could see the parade and do more stuff. Of course as soon as we get there we see that they have torn up most of the main drag where shopping is going on making it that much more difficult to navigate with a crazy little monkey. The weather held out for the first day and was rather beautiful and we got some walking in and had a good time. Picked up some Christmas gifts and overall enjoyed ourselves. On Saturday we drove over to the zoo and proceeded to walk around the massive place ... read more

Nov 4. Atlantic Highlands Municipal Harbor, NJ to Cape May, NJ Weather forecast announced 10 to 15 kts winds from the NW. And Seas 3 to 5 ft. This last information worried us a little bit so we got up at sunrise and took a ride to the beach to look at the surf. It looked pretty flat so we decided to take the opportunity and leave to Cape May. There is a low pressure system moving north and today was our only window to make to Cape May, NJ. We left Atlantic Highlands Harbor at 0745 cruised south around Sandy Hook along the New Jersey coast. At 0850 we spotted a beautiful sailing schooner. About 1351 we were going by Atlantic City, NJ and the swells started getting bigger and bigger. At 1525 when ... read more
