Las Vegas NV

Well what a sight Las Vegas is today. There is not a cloud in the sky, light winds and it is a warm 27 degrees. Whilst I was getting ready this morning Kerry was surfing the channels on the massive TV in the living room. It must be a 55-60 inch screen or something like that in a fairly small space. She found a Travel channel and there was a show on where some guy was in Amarillo which is where we were only 4 days ago and he was doing a story about how they make chicken fried steak which is what I had in Branson, Missouri. How odd ! We probably would not have been interested in watching this show had we not tried it. Next he went on a tip to the Big Texas Ranch and did the 72 oz steak challenge in just under 30 minutes. Amazing, we were just there watching this live ! After we finished watching a little TV we went out for brunch again and given the difficulty in finding something suitable for brunch nearby we went back to the Outback Steakhouse again in Harrah’s which is just next door. It had nothing to do with being Australian themed, but more to do with location. After that we headed up the strip to Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. The last time we did this was in London in 1992 so it has been a while ! We presumed they had found a better way to make them look realistic and that was definitely the case. We had half price entry tickets purchased at Tix 4 Tonight yesterday so that saved a few bucks. The first section was movie stars, and it was hard to tell who was a statue and who was real. Then they had a section for sports starts, music stars (Sammy Davis Junior looked great). Not a politician to be sighted which was nice to see ! They finished up with a 4D theatre of some superheroes which was nice. Grabbed a few photos and then went across the strip to have a look at Treasure Island. We remembered this place was having renovations last time we saw it and they now have a new restaurant out the front near the pirate ships which looked neat. It was pretty nice inside the casino too. I managed a sneaky look at the pool area whilst the security guy was distracted. Kerry could not get through and later asked how it was and all I could remember was that all the ladies serving drinks were wearing bright red bikini’s (not sure why that is all I remembered !). We then caught the tram to The Mirage. Only a short ride and the tram drops you right out the front of the hotel lobby to save your legs. We had a look inside to get familiar as we are coming here for dinner and show tomorrow night. It was around 4pm and no-one was at the buffet which was good to see as we were a bit worried about how popular this place might be for tomorrow. Back to the room for a quick freshening up and then we are off walking down the strip again ! We went to Miracle Mile Shops inside Planet Hollywood, and went to a restaurant and sat down. Usually when the waitress arrives and asks for our drink orders we say “water please”, but tonight it is Showtime so we ordered a wine and beer straight away. We then looked at the menu and nothing was quite right for us. I suggested to Kerry we might leave so I quickly told the Maître D that we were leaving and to cancel the drinks order. We went to the La Salsa Cantina again but this time for dinner. It was beautiful food and nice and quiet here away from the hustle and bustle going on everywhere else. Once we finished our Mexican meal we headed to the Paris Resort next door for our show which is Jerseys Boys. The show is all about Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons and it was fun with lots of good music and done in a narrative format like the show we saw in Branson a few weeks back. It was about 2/3 full, so we snuck away to get some better seats once the show started. After the show finished we were wandering through the Casino area where Kerry found Big Bang Theory slot machine. Once she sat down she received a nice welcome from none other than Sheldon himself ! He was not friendly to us and another $1.00 goes down the drain. As we leave we realise we have not yet seen the Bellagio Fountains so we cross the road and there are people everywhere looking for the best vantage point. We found a good spot and I took some pictures and played around with camera settings a bit. Here is a link to a short video I took

. Once the show finished I was searching for a different vantage point to take some photos and then another fountain display started. We then headed back to The Linq and whilst we were fighting through the crowds another show started (we saw 3 shows in about 45 minutes !). It was here that I heard a big roar from the bars across the road. I could see that they were watching Kobe Bryant’s last NBA game but not sure what the roar was about ? As we were crossing over the strip on our way back we heard the unmistakable music of Gangnam style going off nearby. Looked around to see where it was coming from and all these people were watching a guy at the Turkish Ice Cream stand doing his best moves. I caught a little on video, Check it out here
