Woke up to hear some banging outside and found a crew of construction workers going hard at it trying to take down an air conditioning filtration plant on the rooftop. They were having all sorts of problems and it made for interesting viewing ! Today is another beautiful sunny day and still warm at 25 degrees. I watched TV early and saw Stephen A Smith on the ESPN First Take show describing how Kobe scored 60 points in his final game last night. No wonder there was a big roar !! Later Kerry found another show, this time about some bloke who went on a trip to the Australian outback to meet some indigenous folk who showed him how they eat off the land. He was eating weird food like lily pad stems, turtle necks, wallaby tail and all of our usual Aussie delicacies. Made me feel homesick, NOT ! We were given an entry to play in the Linq Casino’s $1M slot challenge. One pull each on the big machine but no luck here. We then went for a walk (sound familiar !) and headed to the Venetian Resort. This place is so amazing with all the canals just like
Venice. Lots of boutique shops in here (but no spending for us mere mortals !). We had lunch today at the food court inside where I had a burger and fries at Johnny Rockets an Kerry had Tuna at Subway. We then headed up the strip further to have a look inside Wynn Resort. It has beautiful gardens and waterfalls outside. Another expensive boutique shopping mall inside and a pretty garden display inside all made with roses. From there we went across the road on the overpass to the Fashion Mall where we were just looking for a coffee. What hard work it was just to find Starbucks, but finally got time to sit down for a while. We started watching this juice place next to us as they were giving away free samples of their product. Everyone was trying it and it was working as whilst we sat drinking our coffee there must have been about 25-30 people ordering these crushed ice juice drinks. A great concept and the business is called Green Crush and I might buy the Aussie license and open one on the Gold Coast somewhere one day ! Started heading back to The Linq and
went back inside Treasure Island to grab the tram to save our legs a bit (sounding familiar !). Finally got back to the room and grabbed a quick afternoon nap before it was time to head to The Mirage. We have the buffet dinner which we got for half price at Tix 4 Tonight by paying $2- for a discount coupon. It is massive with 11 food stations and includes beer and wine so that is good when you consider how expensive the drinks are here in Vegas everywhere. There was only 10 people in front of us when we arrived around 5.20pm but it still took 20 minutes to get in (so slow !). Food was plentiful and fresh. As usual with a buffet I ate too much, drank too much, and mixed too many dishes from different cuisines (how does Chinese beef & rice mix with pasta and pizza ?).I went to the Rest Rooms about 6pm and there was about 100 people lined up outside waiting to get in so I was so glad we came early. Finished off with about 4 deserts (as I was being quite disciplined by this stage !) and then headed off
to our show which is called “Love”. It’s the first time we have seen a Cirque du Soleil show and it is an awesome experience with so many talented performers and backed by the classic sounds of The Beatles music. We had great seats. Short walk back home and we are in bed not long after 10pm for a change as all this walking is catching up on us Seniors ! Tomorrow we pick up a hire car again and have the chance to explore life away from the strip.
