Today is Sunday, July 31st. The last day of July and also the last Sunday I will have before I embark on my new journey to China. For all who don't know, I recently graduated from Goucher College and have decided to take a break from school before entering a graduate program. With the help of my recent college advisor, I was accepted into a program called World Teach (http://www.worldteach.org/) where I will be teaching English to middle school students in the capital city of Hunan province, Changsha. World Teach is a well known volunteer program that focuses on education for middle and high school students. Native English speakers are trained and teach students all over the world. For more information, please check out the link provided above. I have chosen to teach in China specifically ... read more

Welcome to our journey! After 3 short years of dermatology residency at Walter Reed I'm off on my next adventure. Some people thought I was crazy to drive to Bremerton, WA, but I think it will be an adventure, and significantly cheaper since the military does not pay to transport your car (unless you're driving it, then essentially they pay you to do it). This PCS (Permanent Change of Station) was very tightly scheduled. Boards in Tampa on Mon, fly home Tues, packers there Wed, load the truck Thurs (yes I have a lot of stuff for a single person haha), Fri to tie up odds and ends (which took an ENTIRE day. So glad I had that day!!), then Sat morning depart! My parents were in town to help with the move, and my ... read more

Despite a surprisingly crowded airport even before 6am, we made it to our flight and are in the air. Lots of people in the terminal, but the lines moved along pretty well and we even had time (barely) to have a quick breakfast. Apparently it is raining right now in Aruba, but it's supposed to be sunny by the time we land. The forecast for the rest of our stay is almost the same every day: Sunny, high 90, low 80, and breezy. The only variation seems to be if the winds are 15-25 mph, or 20-30 mph. That seems beyond breezy to me - I feel like instead of sunburn, the bigger danger is being convection-baked! We'll see. Next stop: Marriott Aruba Resorts & Stellaris Casino on Eagle Beach.... read more

Just an early entry to get this thing started. I didn't really think I was going to do a blog this trip, but every time I mentioned our upcoming vacation to someone, their first words were "Are you doing a blog?" So, yes, we'll take a shot at it. We really don't have a lot of activities planned other than the same old boring routine: breakfast, beach, nap, beach, drinks, dinner, drinks. Hit the hay, wake up, and repeat x 7. But I'm sure I'll be able to find a few sights worthy of some pictures! Anyway, you can Subscribe to get notified when new entries are posted, or just check the web site when you feel like it: www.mytb.org/JeffC7135 And please feel free to leave comments or messages - it's fun to know someone is ... read more
