Today we got to sleep in, well sorta. Craig called asking me to do some work things, but I told him it was my day off and it needs to wait. I slept well, but at one point, Sarah decided that we were both cold and flipped the covers off us both. Once we got up and moving, Sarah and I hopped in the black Mustang the host family loaned us. Woot! Even in the rain, we were hot! Elissa was with us, too, because she also had a day off, but couldn’t be at her house. The three of us (it was quite tight) headed off to pick up Kyle and Sharye at the hotel. We all headed out to the car, and tried to figure out where everyone would go. Elissa, Sharye, Sarah in ... read more

Sort of slept in. Breakfast. I took a short nap again after that. Florence, Craig and I then headed for the church. And let me tell you. It’s huge! The auditorium is as big as ours, at least as deep, and wider for sure. With a gym, and like 6 buildings (labeled A-F). Gynormous. And so nice! These people are so excited to have us and bent over backwards if ever we needed anything. Sarah and I (wow! Did I mention we picked up the kids and everyone at the airport!?! Yea! All the kids came down the escalator and saw me and got really excited! They’re home!) walked around quite a bit and had some good times of chatting. We also found 4 (yes, FOUR) other auditoriums! Full, with lights and sound and video. So, ... read more

Another wicked long drive in the bus. Arkansas through Tennessee to Kentucky. Got some work done on the bus, slept some, talked to Kyle and Sarah several times, read almost half of a book. Florence and I had a nice chat about Uganda, mostly how engagements and weddings and things work, very funny. It’s quite the ordeal, involving lots of money, several cows, and over a long period of time. It was fun getting to know her and where she comes from a little better. When we were just a few miles away from Lexington, I glanced to the left and saw a castle… that’s right! A real castle! Whoa! I’m trying to get Craig to take us there tomorrow on the way to pick up the Choir. I Googled it, and it’s called Martin Castle, ... read more

Staying with Analisa in Lexington was a blast!! Partly because she has pets and loves dogs and partly because she is single, footloose and fancy free. Plus we wear practically the same size in clothes and shoes and she has great taste. Hurrah for shopping in Analisa's closet :) Despite the fact that Analisa had to work during the week, she still managed to keep me busy. Between a cozy Valentines dinner for us and neighbors, out bowling with the Jockey club bowling league...twice! and getting dressed up for an American Heart Association Fund raising event, I practically needed a vacation from my vacation with Analisa. I can't believe she did it all while working. Ha!... read more

Well, after some persuasion I've decided to post an entry on Pikeville, KY. I guess if an entry from the remote parts of the world outside the U.S. are worthy of blog entries, why not note remote parts of the U.S.? Pikeville, KY is nestled in the Cumberland Mountains (part of the larger Appalachian Mountain range); it is a good two hour drive from the closest city -- Charleston, WV, and about two and half hours from Lexington, KY. Its main business is coal mining, and with a short drive around you can find coal mines in operation. It was an interesting trip... Pikeville, KY is a small town of 6,500 and in the South near the borders of Virginia and West Virginia. I lived in the south until I was 16 years-old -- Arkansas, Mississippi, ... read more

Time to update my blog. I've been feeling guilty about not being more prompt about putting my pictures online especially since I do seem to have the time to show them to people as I move around. So the first bunch are from when I spent my first six nights in Kentucky in Carlisle at my Aunt Mary Catherine's house. I had a great time as always although this was my longest stay out there to date and I was glad to finally be able to use my cell phone again once I left the country. It's funny how attached you become to being connected. Fortunately, I was able to use the internet but only from the public library. While at Aunt Mary Catherine's I saw Analisa and David during a Valentine's day dinner the Saturday ... read more

Wow. It’s been a while since I wrote. Since Nashville, we have been to Atlanta, GA, and back up to Henderson, KY where we are now. Atlanta was great, mostly. A little stickiness at the venue, but the show came together fine. I ran the in all by myself, and it when fairly ok. It felt like it took forever, and when I asked Ryan about it, he said that I’m doing fine, just the crew is slowing us down, and since our crew is different at every venue… And for the out, Rachel, the MC, got sick, so I was officially in charge. That was great fun; and honestly, not much different than usual. Ryan also left us in that wonderful city. Yesterday, we drove from Atlanta to Henderson, which included driving back through Nashville, ... read more

Posted by: Onaxthiel: Since I woke up this morning with a case of neck pain, I've got Obfuscator driving while I type. Leaving the tourist trap that surrounds Americas most visited national park is a garish and almost surreal experience. Aliens explode through the walls of laser tag arenas, P-51s strafe dinosaurs, and castles rise up, sandwiched between places advertising Hillbilly moonshine and miniature golf courses that look like Alan Quartermain could be found within their jungles. Over it all looms the shadow of Dollywood, Dolly Parton's theme park of what it is like to be a coal miners daughter who ended up with huge...piles of money. Being that eastern Tennessee is very much Gods Country, there are electronic billboards about every other block advertising the Christmas Miracle, a million dollar multi media stage spectacular, celebrating ... read more

The Countdown Begins....28 Nov. 2007 Ahhhhh!!! Lots to do before we leave on December 3rd. But I think it will all get done. I am starting to seriously scrutinize what to pack. Want to take only about 5 days worth of clothes so I will have an excuse to go shopping once we reach India! Anant is out of town for work and will only have 2 days when he gets back to get his stuff together. I would normally travel with him but stayed behind this time to prepare for our trip. We plan to spend a few days in Paris before continuing on to Madras. Been keeping a concerned eye on the news. Paris had a major transportation strike recently along with riots among angry youths in the suburbs upset with the government and ... read more
